Netflix K-Drama ‘Hometown ChaChaCha’: Trailer, What We Know So Far

Upcoming K-Drama series Hometown ChaChaCha

Hometown ChaChaCha is a Netflix Original K-Drama series, with the first episode coming to the streaming channel on Saturday, August 28, 2021. The series will have a total of 16 episodes, the traditional number for South Korean cable dramas. Fans will get to see new episodes twice a week on Saturdays and Sundays. Each episode has a runtime of 70 minutes.

As for the plot of Hometown ChaChaCha, the story relates to Yoon Hye Jin (Shin Min Ah), an intelligent and beautiful woman who has her life and career mapped out. A dentist, she leaves the big city to open up a dental practice in the close-knit seaside village of Gongjin. She has suffered a huge setback, mainly to do with the heart. However, once in the village, she meets up with Mr. Hong (Kim Seon Ho), an officially unemployed man. He also is a master of odd jobs, always helping people around the village.

Shin Min Ah is known for Chief of Staff, Oh My Venus and Tomorrow With You. Meanwhile, the male lead, Kim Seon Ho, had roles in Start-Up, Catch the Ghost and 100 Days My Prince. Other cast members include Lee Sang Yi, Lee Suk Hyeong, Jo Han Chui, In Gyo Jin, Lee Bong Ryun, Kim Min Seo and In Sung Mi. All other cast members have an impressive list of former TV and movie roles.

How will Hometown ChaChaCha rate?

Before episodes of Hometown ChaChaCha can stream on Netflix, they must first be broadcast on the South Korean cable network tvN. Due to the fact that the series has the coveted Saturday and Sunday night timeslot, it has an excellent chance of performing well in the ratings.

So far, cable dramas that air episodes between Friday and Sunday are the highest-rated. Meanwhile, few dramas that aired midweek have ever hit the top 50. However, to make it into the top ten, Hometown ChaChaCha will need to outperform fellow tvN drama, 100 Days My Prince, which currently has a high rating of 14.412 percent.
