It was Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) who revealed Baby Yoda’s true name. Tano said that Grogu’s memory went “dark” once he went into hiding. This led her character to decide not to train him. He had so much anger built up inside him from many years in exile. Rather than training him, Tano suggested Mando (Pedro Pascal) should take him from the Jedi Temple on Tython. Once Baby Yoda was taken from the temple, it was decided that they would see if any of the remaining Jedi would take him.
