’90 Day Fiance’ Star Armando Asks For His Mother’s Support In His Relationship

A sneak peek into the 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way episode of Sunday, October 18 reveals sad news.  In the clip, Armando sits down to discuss his engagement with his mom. He wants to know if she will attend his and Kenny’s wedding. Armando gets the feeling that his mother is ashamed of him. Meanwhile, the TLC reality star’s daughter, Hannah, is much more accepting of the relationship. She is quite happy to have a second dad to love.

90 Day Fiance stars Armando and Kenny

The first male gay couple has had challenges since Kenny moved to Mexico, including homophobic slurs in a restaurant. However, they finally get up the courage to open up to Armando’s family.

The relationship between Armando Rubio, 31, and Kenneth Niedermeier, 57, just got more challenging. This is after they announced their engagement to Armando’s whole family. People released a sneak-peek into Sunday’s episode of 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way reveals Armando sitting down with his mom. Their conversation follows the reveal the news of their engagement with the whole family.

Armando wants to know if his mother was surprised when he told the family they were engaged. His mom said she was because she didn’t expect it. She said Armando hadn’t even hinted about an engagement. She said, as his mother, he must always tell her things first in private. His mother would prefer this, rather than opening up to the whole family.

Is Armando’s mother embarrassed?

At this point, the TLC star starts to feel his mother might be ashamed of him. Armando tells the cameras he feels his mom is still not happy about the engagement. He said the fact she said he should have told her in private reveals his mother is struggling with it. Armando admits that he thinks that in some ways, maybe his mother feels embarrassed that he is gay.

However, Armando adds, “She needs to learn how to accept me without worrying what anybody says, thinks, or who is around.”

Armando had already come out to his family

The 90 Day Fiance star came out to his family when he was younger. He was forced to hide his sexuality when they didn’t accept the fact. During this season, Rubio came out for a second time, while introducing Kenny to his family, while revealing their engagement.

It is clear from the sneak peek into Sunday’s episode that his mother, for one, is still not really comfortable with the news. When he broaches the subject of his wedding plans with his mother, she encourages him to have a private ceremony.

However, Armando says they want to celebrate their wedding. Like any couple in love, a wedding is a very important day for them. When Armando asks his mother if she will attend the ceremony, she pauses. He explained to her that he wants it to be a happy day. Armando said he wants to have her and the family’s full support so he can feel complete.

How Kenny and Armando met

Kenny and Armando met at a gay fathers’ support group and hit it off immediately. After they fell in love, Kenny decided to move to Mexico to be with Armando and his daughter, Hannah. However, there is some good news for the couple. In the video below, Hannah accepts Kenny into her family. In fact, the young girl is pleased to have a second father.
