Actress Catherine Bach recently stepped out, making a rare public appearance in Los Angeles. For many, Bach is best known for playing Daisy Duke in The Dukes of Hazzard. First playing the character in 1979, she would reprise the role in a variety of projects. Notably, she even voiced an animated version of the character in the cartoon, The Dukes.

Bach famously left her mark when it came to the character’s famous wardrobe. Initially, the character was intended to wear go-go boots and a poodle skirt, but she suggested her own outfit, which included cut-off denim shorts and high heels. This style of shorts would end up becoming so synonymous with the character that they would become known as “Daisy Dukes” in American culture.

In 2012, Bach took on the recurring role of Anita Lawson, the mother of Chelsea Lawson, on The Young and the Restless. She made her last appearance on the soap in 2019.

As noted by In Touch Weekly, Bach was out in Los Angeles this past Tuesday, November 19. She was reportedly out getting pet food.

The star could be seen wearing a casual black outfit. She also had sunglasses and a back cross-body bag on hand.

The publication also noted that Bach felt Daisy’s down-to-earth portrayal made her such an appealing character. As she revealed to CMT News back in 2005: “I think what made Daisy Duke stand out is that I am a ‘sex symbol’ who never took her clothes off and never had a love scene.”

“I never did anything embarrassing. And by the way, to this day, people know that I’m not going to shock them or surprise them with some crazy thing.”

The actress also felt this approach is what gave the show a timeless quality. As she noted, “Somebody told me, and it really stuck with me, that everybody can watch this show, from 3 years old to 90 years old.”

“You don’t have to get up from the television and turn your back or put your hands over your kids’ eyes,” Bach explained. She continued that “you know you’re not going to be shocked or rudely taken aback by The Dukes of Hazzard. You’re just going to laugh, and you can just relax and have fun. And I was proud of that, as well.”

Bach also admitted the one time fans could see her dress up in her iconic outfit again. As she put it, “come to my house and watch me garden.” She noted this was something she’d actually pitch to showrunners.
