Shemar Moore knows that he is getting something that many other actors don’t. When networks cancel shows, there is usually no chance anyone can change their minds. However, Moore was able to sway his network to allow his show, S.W.A.T., to return after it was canceled.

Now that the final season is about to play out, Moore has a message for the fans.

Shemar Moore On His Cancelled TV Show

When CBS canceled S.W.A.T., it took Shemar Moore by surprise. The actor was unhappy about it and made a lot of noise about not getting a chance to finish the show satisfactorily. He kept talking until CBS finally changed their minds and un-canceled the show.

Now, S.W.A.T. gets its final season and can go out the way the showrunner has planned to give everyone a hopefully satisfying ending. Blue Bloods also got a final season, but its cast still seems unhappy about the show ending, and even getting a final season wasn’t enough to make them happy.

However, that is not how Shemar Moore is acting. As he enters the final season of his show, he was asked what it is like to return for Season 8 after the show was supposed to end after seven seasons. His words said it all when he responded, “I’m grateful” (via Cinema Blend).

What To Expect In S.W.A.T. Final Season

Not only did CBS choose to allow S.W.A.T. to return after canceling it, but it also gave it a full season. The final season has 22 episodes (Blue Bloods got 10). The final season will look a little different since Kenny Johnson (Luca) and Alex Russell (Street) both left the series.

However, Moore said there would be some new cast members and that there would always be a chance that Johnson could return in the final season, although not as a team member (his injuries after a shooting forced his retirement from the force). Russello could also be back, as there could be a Street wedding in the final season.

Rochelle Aytes will also no longer be a full-time cast member as Nichelle Carmichael-Harrelson and will only be a recurring character in the final season. It is unknown what the overarching storyline will be in the final season, although the case of the week should be a part of it until the final episode.

The S.W.A.T. Season 8 premiere will air on October 18 at 8 p.m. ET. The premiere will be followed by the return of Fire Country Season 3 and Blue Bloods Season 14.
