Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Trial Date Set, What You Need To Know
Sean “Diddy” Combs has been in jail waiting for his trial. A judge rejected his request for bail, and now it appears his wait will be longer than expected. Combs had a hearing on Thursday, October 10, and a judge offered the rapper a May 5, 2025, trial date.
Here is what you need to know about this upcoming course case.
What Will Happen During Diddy’s Trial?
Since the trial date is May 5, 2025, Diddy might have to stay in jail for the next seven months before it occurs. Combs’ attorneys requested this date, so they weren’t surprised. It also seems the case won’t drag out for long once it starts.
Combs’ lawyers stated they only need about a week to make their case that he is innocent. Prosecutors said presenting their case to prove his guilt would take about three weeks. This means that his fate will likely be determined by the end of May 2025.
“We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office,” his attorney Marc Agnifilo said (via Us Weekly). “He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal. To his credit, Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges.”
However, whether he gets released on bail after his recent third request remains to be seen.
What Are The Charges Against Diddy?
Interestingly, the prosecutors have asked for permission to revise their charges against Sean “Diddy” Combs. This means they could eliminate some charges, modify others, or possibly add new ones.
At the moment, the indictment against Diddy includes sex trafficking and racketeering charges. The charges accuse the producer of abusing, threatening, and coercing women for years “to fulfill his sexual desires, protect his reputation and conceal his conduct.” These charges date back to 2009.
The charges also say Combs used his employees, resources, and influence to control these women. The racketeering charges are because prosecutors said he created a “criminal enterprise whose members and associates engaged in, and attempted to engage in, among other crimes, sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery and obstruction of justice.”
Combs had pleaded not guilty to charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution. The judge denied bail because the court considered him a risk of using his power to coerce witnesses and sway the trial in his favor.
