Why Selena Gomez Just Clapped Back Against Trolls
One thing about Selena Gomez is that she’s always going to speak her truth. Whether it comes to her mental health, her heartbreak, or her career path, Selena has a history of being open and honest with a refreshing sense of vulnerability. However, After Selena opened up about her struggle with infertility issues, the response she received wasn’t exactly overwhelmingly positive. Here’s what she said when she clapped back.
Selena Gomez Shut Down Internet Haters
Selena recently made it known that she’s infertile and unable to carry her own babies. According to Entertainment Weekly, she’s now responding to some of the criticism she’s received while speaking at a Women in Film event. She said, “I truly believe that there is power in being vulnerable and telling people when you need help and when you want help. That is not shameful. So yeah, I shared that I can’t carry a child. Yeah, I shared that I have bipolar. F*** off! That’s what my life is like.”
This statement came from the “Love On” singer following her Vanity Fair profile that was published earlier this month on September 9. In the profile, Selena said, “I haven’t ever said this, but I unfortunately can’t carry my own children. I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while.”
Selena Gomez’s Clap Back Goes Hand In Hand With Her Past Honest Moments
Along with touching on her infertility issues, Selena also mentioned her bipolar diagnosis, which she shared with her fans back in 2020. Mental health awareness has always been an extremely big deal for Selena, which is why her statement shouldn’t come as a shock at all. She’s never been the type of celebrity to take vitriol from trolls lying down. She’s consistently proven herself to be someone who’ll stand up for herself based on whatever criticisms she’s facing.

At the Women in Film event, she further explained, “I only wanna be an advocate for women, and that’s why I share. That’s why I like to be honest. Because everybody’s going through something. I don’t have it all put together.” As far as Selena’s desires go regarding motherhood, it appears she’s still interested in raising children at some point.
In an interview with Time, she opened up about the plans she once had to pursue adoption. If she didn’t meet someone she could raise kids with by the time she turned 35 years old, she had every intention of adopting a child. As a reminder, Selena is currently 32 years old.
She entered a serious relationship with her boyfriend, Benny Blanco, at the end of last year. The Only Murders in the Building actress went public with their love story in an Instagram post in December 2023.
