‘1000-Lb. Sisters’ Amy Slaton Struggling With Mental Health & Drugs
Amy Slaton has faced a lot of challenges since she first appeared on TLC’s 1000-Lb. Sisters. Now, she has added an arrest and child endangerment charges to her long list of problems. Sources close to Amy are placing blame on her television career. Continue reading to see what they’re saying.
Friend Says Drugs Are ‘Complicating Things’ For Amy Slaton
As fans know, Amy Slaton rose to fame on 1000-Lb. Sisters, alongside her sister Tammy Slaton. The two women were morbidly obese and trying to improve their lives.
Tammy Slaton has completely overhauled her life, losing 500 pounds, and using her social media to promote positive messages. Amy, on the other hand, hasn’t had it easy.
A source told In Touch Weekly that Amy has struggling with a number of problems since she first started to appear on TV. She has been having a hard time managing her bipolar disorder and has had a messy breakup with her now ex-husband Michael Halterman.
“Now drugs are complicating things,” the insider revealed. They referenced Amy’s recent arrest on September 2. Amy Slaton was visiting Safari Park in Tennessee with her two sons, Glenn and Gage. A man named Brian Scott Lovvorn was also with them.
An employee called 911 when Amy was allegedly bitten by a camel. When officers arrived on the scene, they smelled something coming from Amy’s car that warranted further inspection.
She was found to be in possession of Schedule I and Schedule IV drugs. In addition to possession charges, she was charged with two counts of child endangerment. She pleaded not guilty during a court hearing on September 5.
1000-Lb. Sisters Star Running Out Of People To Turn To
Given these recent developments, Amy Slaton’s friends are becoming increasingly concerned about her behavior. “Everyone in Amy’s life is petrified she’ll be six feet under unless something drastic happens,” the source told In Touch. “It does look very dark and deadly.”
Many people are also reportedly worried about Brian’s influence on the TLC star. The source noted that Amy’s mood has “never been darker.”
More than that, “Fans and people in her life feel she’s a victim of exploitation. These demons she’s had have been amplified to a toxic degree by putting her on camera.”
Now that Amy Slaton is facing child endangerment charges, she has very few people she can turn to, according to the source. To add fuel to the fire, “Her finances are in the toilet. Many around her think it’ll be a miracle if Amy comes out of this alive.”
It has been confirmed that TLC renewed 1000-Lb. Sisters. Season 6 will premiere on Tuesday, October 8 at 9 p.m. EST.
