BIP alum Jade Roper Tolbert has three children with her husband, Tanner Tolbert, whom she met on the show. The birth of her second child, Brooks, did not go as planned. The former reality star recently shared a heartfelt reunion with the firefighter who helped deliver her son.

Unexpected Home Birth

In 2019, Jade Roper Tolbert was due to give birth to her second child with her husband, Tanner. Two weeks before her due date, the couple were home relaxing, ironically watching The Bachelorette. Jade’s water broke and she started having contractions.

But before they could even get to the car to go to the hospital, the baby was already on the way. The Bachelor Nation star told PEOPLE magazine that she was in the closet about to get dressed after a bath when she realized the baby’s head was already out.

Her husband called 911 and was advised by the dispatch of what to do until help got there. First responders, including EMTs and firefighters, helped welcome Brooks Tolbert into the world. He joined his big sister, Emerson. The couple later welcomed another son, Reed.

In 2023, Jade Roper Tolbert suffered a devastating miscarriage and revealed it is unlikely the couple will try for more children.

The young boy was the guest of honor and firefighter for a day at the Fire Station 67 in Mission Viejo, in Orange County, California. The local news station was on hand to document the heartfelt reunion.

Jade Roper Tolbert reflected on the moment the first responders arrived at her home five years earlier. “When they got there it was just such a relief to know that someone was there to at least take care of us.”

She added that it was a “beautiful moment” to see her son and the firefighters who delivered him together. She shined a special spotlight on Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Brian Sandlin.

“I feel like five is a big deal, when you’re a kid, to turn five. And so it’s special to have him come here and meet — especially Brian — to meet someone who helped him come into this world.”

The moment was equally special for Sandlin. “When we get the opportunity to have a good call and reflect on that and meet with the family, it really brings to light what we do as firefighters.”
