‘The Bay’ To Honor Late Soap Star Jackie Zeman, How To Watch
Best known for playing Bobbie Spencer on General Hospital, Jackie Zeman also had a pivotal role on the online soap The Bay. One episode of the digital series’ upcoming Season 9 will be a tribute to the late actress.

Jackie Zeman joined General Hospital in 1977 in the role of Bobbie Spencer, sister to the show’s anti-hero, Luke Spencer (Tony Geary.) She featured in some of the show’s most memorable storylines, including the award-winning storyline of Bobbie’s daughter B.J.’s death and subsequent heart donation to Maxie.
Sadly, Jackie Zeman passed away in 2023 after a brief battle with cancer. General Hospital chose not to recast the role of Bobbie and instead had the character pass away off-screen. This gave the soap a chance to honor the long-time actress.
Brighton Hertford, who played B.J. in the 1994 storyline, returned for the special tribute. Jackie Zeman was still a cast member at the time of her death, but her on-screen role was greatly reduced.
She was an original cast member when The Bay premiered in 2010, playing Southern belle Sophia Madison. The soap filmed a special episode to honor Jackie Zeman. The entire episode, titled “Sofia,” will revolve around the character Jackie played.
The tribute will feature several of Jackie Zeman’s former GH co-stars.
General Hospital Alums Join Tribute Episode
Dee Wallace appeared on General Hospital in 2015 as Bobbie and Luke’s older sister, Patricia. She will play the sisterly role again on The Bay as Sofia’s sister.
Leigh McCloskey played one of Bobbie Spencer’s husbands on General Hospital. He will appear on The Bay as Hank Henderson, Sofia’s first husband. According to Variety, some of the lines that come from McCloskey’s character were straight from Jackie Zeman’s daughters, Cassidy and Lacey Rose.
One of the major storylines on General Hospital was Bobbie finding out she had a daughter, Carly. Laura Wright plays Carly now, but actress Tamara Braun played the role from 2001 to 2005 and remained close to Jackie Zeman after leaving the show.
Tamara Braun will appear on the tribute episode as a woman who receives a life-altering gift from Sofia.
The episode honoring Jackie Zeman will air this September. The Bay airs on Popstar! TV. Previous seasons are available to stream on Amazon, Tubi, and Peacock.
