‘Below Deck Med’ Season 9 Chef Johnathan Gets Fired?

Below Deck Mediterranean premiered on June 3 on Bravo and fans had already found out in teasers that Johnathan “Jono” Shillingford might be in trouble. Now, fans are certain that he’s about to be fired. Chief Stew, Aesha Scott already claimed that the season would be challenging, and upset clients often end the career trajectory of the chefs.

The Crew For Season 9 Of Below Deck Med Seem Slack?

The trailer revealed that Johnathan “Jono” Shillingford, the chef, got criticized by the client, Gigi Fernandez. Meanwhile, Stew Elena Dubaich and Stew Bri Muller clash. The rest of the crew includes Captain Sandy Yawn and her Bosun Iain Maclean. The deckhands are Joe Bradley, Nathan Gallager, and Gael Cameron. While Sandy Yawn enjoyed talking about the intimacy that goes on with the staff, Bravo fans now suspect that the crew doesn’t take their clients seriously.

For some Bravo fans, Season 9 of Below Deck Med seemed scripted right from the start. For example, new deckhand, Joe Bradley launched into some NSFW stuff as soon as he arrived. Nathan Gallager was sharing a cabin with Joe and he ended up being told by Joe, “So my night routine before I go to bed: I love finger-blasting me bumhole. Just a quick one before I go to sleep.” While fans thought it seemed scripted, would they also rope in the clients to create scripted drama? Most fans think not.

Chef Jonathan Shillingford Loses His Job in Greece?

The Mustique is in Greece and the client gave a list of likes and dislikes. With seven years of experience in the yachting industry, fans assumed that Johnathan “Jono” Shillingford would know his stuff. However, he’s self-taught, and winging it didn’t help him with Gigi Fernandez. What did he do? Well, he served up spicy food which the client stated that they didn’t want. And when clients complain about the food, it also makes Captain Sandy Yawn look bad. Not to mention Aesha Scott.

On Reddit, Below Deck Med fans think that Johnathan “Jono” Shillingford is definitely going to lose his job. In a discussion about Episode 3 of Season 9, one critic wrote:

“Chef” Jono has GOT TO GO!!! There is just so much wrong with literally every meal. Poor Gigi and her guests!!!!

Others agreed that Jonathan sometimes made some odd decisions on the Bravo show. Here are some of their opinions:

• He took beautiful king crab legs and minced them into crab cakes. Who does that?
• …cold cooked tomato salsa, soggy tacos with cheese that melted and has gone hard again because its cold 🤮
• It was huevos rancheros, which should have a nice crispy tortilla as a base. No doubt his were the opposite by the time they were served.
• Watching him put a literal sh-pt ton of cardamom in his “Mexican spicy rice” literally pained me. Cardamom and mexican food don’t go together.
• I feel like Jono is way out of his depth not having the restaurant background … i might be wrong but we will see.
