‘On Patrol: Live’ Fans Want Change Or Show Is OVER?
On Patrol: Live fans really want this change to the show yet if it does not come through could that mean the end for the series? There have been some viewers who do not feel that this version of the show has the same excitement as Live PD. Yet, with some minor alterations, that could all change. Keep reading for more details on what fans have suggested.
On Patrol: Live Fans Want Change Or Show Is OVER?
Things change frequently for On Patrol: Live. It was hard when Sean ‘Sticks’ Larkin exited for his own series but viewers were thrilled when he popped back in. Then, guest stars will take time off for various reasons, like Corporal Carli Drayton. She went behind the scenes so that she could bring new life into the world. Once her little one was born, viewers were eager to know when she would be back on camera. Then, there are departments that will take breaks such as Hazen PD. They went on hiatus for the holidays back in November 2023 plus it was hunting season. Though they returned in February 2024, they exited again in April 2024.
Now, fans feel that something else is lacking from the hit Reelz series but what exactly is it? They started a Reddit thread to share their thoughts as they have done in the past. The OP noted that a lot goes into making the series. However, they shared that the show seems to pick up as it ends. Therefore, they suggested:
- What if there was a “Night Shift”? Bring in another group of hosts at midnight, and keep going for another hour, or two, or three. You know, like on the radio…

So, what did fellow OPL fans think of this idea?
- At this point, unless they can change it up, I feel the show has run its course.
- The only suggestion I have for the show itself is to stop with the guest hosts when Dan is out.
- We see so much from the eastern time zone because of when it’s filmed. We would definitely see more interesting stuff from California if it was filmed later.
Okay As Is?
It appears that everyone has different ideas as to how to improve On Patrol: Live. Yet, others believe that it is just fine as it is. There has been chatter that maybe Curtis Wilson should exit the series despite what one Redditor said above. Some have felt that he is just disinterested as of late and appears to not care to be there. Though having a later show would be fun for those who do not want it to end, there is the added costs and it may not be feasible. Over time, though, this could be a possibility.
Would you like to see the show extend later and do you agree that it picks up more toward the end? Let us know what suggestions you have and watch On Patrol: Live Fridays and Saturdays on Reelz.

What is this? Opl is great. I’m happy not watching Sean Larkin. I like that they get guest every week. There are many retired cops available to sit in the seat, and I know plenty of them. This article isn’t worth the wasted space it uses. If your so called fans want Larkin, that’s to bad. If the show goes then they will whine about that!!
I love the show. I’ve been saying since it was live PD that they should have camera shifts that change when they do. But besides that nothing needs to be changed
It’s a fact that OPLive’s ratings tanked when fan-favorite Sean “Sticks” Larkin left. With the departure of Hazen, Fullerton, and Pennsylvania, the show is dying. Now they’re losing Curtis Wilson? Frankly, I was surprised that REELZ renewed it. If they are indeed cleaning house, lose Dan too. Get Ashley Banfield, Tom Rizzo and woo Curtis back. That’s the dream team.
Wow, this is my favorite show! I like Dan and Curtis of course!! Sean is from my hometown Tulsa and he was a favorite! I guess he found something else he likes better or else maybe more money might be his reason for not being there all the time, but don’t lose Dan or Curtis! I like Tom Rizzo too but whoever, please do not stop the show, it is so interesting!
I would prefer an 8 hour shift.just like in real life. We only get 3 hours of live patrolling here in Nevada. Most people work 8 hour shifts. So should On patrol
I Love OPL I watch it on Reelz in AZ. it mostly shows old ones but I dont care, i will watch the same ones over, @ over again. yes im a fan , so please don’t cancel it.
I stopped watching for the most part when Sean Larkin left. He created the atmosphere that I enjoyed so much.
His dry humor and experience made him the best member of the show. I understand that he probably is not returning.
I am no longer that interested in the show. I don’t care about diversity or featuring police officers from the show as hosts. Bring back Sticks.
I am beginning to wonder if the show is really live or delay taped. I realize the incidents are not real time but I am wondering if the studio crew is actually live. If you observe the incidents, sometime the light of day seems off. It is almost like they start taping the show an hour before is really airs. If true, they are actually not live the final hour of the program.
I think it might be pre-recorded delay. I saw Dan Abrams watch the other night. It was after 9PM but is watch showed about 8:35. They are really careful about covering radio time announcements during incidents and the other hosts either do not wear watches or keep their display off. I know incidents are edited before air so we don’t see a shootout or something but they should leave the times in the broadcasts. Dan Abrams should tell people they use a studio recorded delay. That is probably why there are more commercials in the last hour since everything happened and hour before and the hosts are either on they way home or in the green room eating supper or something. They also seem to be airing a lot of things that ‘happened earlier’ to fill the mundane activity. If they were truly live in studio, things would pick up after 10 or 11PM. Just my opinion.
Not a word about assassination attempt a couple of hours earlier…. more proof the NYC studio feed is taped and played later. My guess is they start at 8PM and finish about 11 in the studio….
The last hour has too many commercials right up to the 5 minutes left mark. I stopped watching.
As long as Ashley Bad-field is kept off the show I will tune in a few times a month. She is either a total idiot or plays one on TV. She is clueless as to what cops do or her fake shock and OMG reactions to what goes on proves she is not right for the show. Every time she hosts stop watching for a few months. She is hideous and annoying.
im done nothing but domestic calls and nice guy cop traffic stops in the same old towns
Ya know a better show? Cops reloaded. Show new ones. OPL had a 21 minute car chase. Just watching a police car driving .4 hours of all new Cops Reloaded is better then watching motor cycles cruising in Daytona Beach.
