Tori Spelling Seeking Full Custody Of Children In Divorce
Tori Spelling filed for divorce from her husband, Dean McDermott, yesterday, March 29, 2024. She cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for ending her 18-year marriage. Included in the divorce papers, was her desire to have full custody of her five children.
The Almost-One-Year Separation
Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott separated in June of 2023, last year. The couple had been married for 18 years. They have five children together.
The separation came after, what has been reported as, years of Spelling being unhappy in their marriage. It is believed the couple were separated for so long without filing for a divorce because of their five children. Both Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott wanted what was best for their children.
Tori Spelling Finally Files For Divorce
Tori Spelling filed for divorce on March 29, 2023. This happened shortly after the estranged couple had a meeting at the storage unit where some of their belongings are being stored. This meeting did not go well for the couple.
Tori Spelling was seen throwing a plastic bag full of their belongings in the air. After Dean McDermott left, she sat behind the wheel of her SUV, alone, and cried. This appears to be the last straw for the former child star.
Support From Beverly Hills, 9021 Co-Stars
Tori Spelling has been through so much the past several years. Thankfully, she has longtime friends who are there to support her through this period in her life. Those friends are some of her co-stars from Beverly Hills, 90210.
Both Ian Ziering and Jennie Garth came forward to show their love and support for their former castmate after she filed for the divorce. Jennie Garth has explained her friendship is more like Spelling being a “sister” than a friend. “That kind of bond doesn’t ever go away. You know, it’s kind of unbreakable,” the actress stated.
Ian Ziering went as far as to say “So whenever there’s a victory, we all pull together and lend support and pride, and when there’s challenging times, we come together and offer whatever support we can from wherever we are.”
What Tori Spelling Wants For Her Children
Tori has worked hard to provide her five children with the happiest and most stable life possible. This goal has yet to change. She still wants what is best for her children – Beau, 7, Finn, 11, Hattie, 12, and Stella, 15, and Liam, 17.
Because of her unwavering commitment to her five children, Tori Spelling is wanting full custody of all five children. In the court documents, she is asking for sole physical and joint legal custody. She is also wanting Dean McDermott to have visitation rights. Despite their differences, Tori Spelling does not want her estranged husband to be completely cut off from their children.
