‘Survivor’ Jeff Probst Spills New Policy For Quitters
CBS’s Survivor host Jeff Probst was a guest on LIVE with Kelly and Mark this week. During his appearance, he spent a little time discussing things he loved. He, however, addressed the elephant in the room. How did the reality TV series handle quitters?
As Jeff Probst clarifies during the discussion, statistically, the odds of someone quitting Survivor are exceptionally low. So, more than one quitter during the same season can be extremely offputting. After all, no one watches Survivor because they want to see people quit. Fans have watched over 45 seasons because they enjoy watching people play the game.
Fortunately, Jeff Probst reveals they have a new policy in place. A new method for how they handle players choosing to walk away from the game. What is that new policy? Keep reading for a recap of what he shared with Kelly Ripa and her husband, Mark Consuelos.
Survivor Jeff Probst Spills New Policy For Quitters
After talking about his dislike of pickleball and his love for tennis, Jeff Probst shifted gears. He talked to Kelly and Mark about players choosing to quit Survivor.
The TV personality clarified that, statistically, less than one percent of players choose to quit the game. So, Jeff described it as “remarkable” when they find themselves in a situation where someone does decide to quit.
Jeff Probst explained the one thing they really can’t test people for during casting is how they will handle the real elements. In most cases, he believes the deprivation the game causes is ultimately what drives people to quit. He cited explanations like deprivation of food and sleep. For some, deprivation of a connection to their loved ones is also a challenge.
The Survivor host proceeded to spill that a change had been made to the policy of the game. The change involved how they would deal with future players who decide to quit the game.
Jeff Probst explained that individuals who decide to quit the game will no longer have the honor of their torch being snuffed out. Moving forward, this will be an honor that only people who actually play the game get to receive. After all, he believes no one watches the show because they want to see people throw in the towel.
Kelly Ripa made it clear she liked the idea of this new policy. Furthermore, Survivor fans have already given the new policy their stamp of approval as well.
