The View host Whoopi Goldberg recently admitted she was scared for her co-host Joy Behar after a hair-raising accident.
The incident occurred at work, and the hosts discussed it on one of this week’s shows. While Joy tried to brush it off, Whoopi admitted that she was scared when it occurred. And the accident led to producers changing one major part of the show’s set to keep the hosts safe in the future. Read on to find out what happened to Joy that scared Whoopi so badly.
Whoopi And Hosts Reminisce About Lost Friends
The past week has been a tough one in the studio for The View co-hosts. Last week, co-creator of the view and executive producer Bill Geddie passed away from coronary-related issues.
The hosts gathered this week to share their memories of the man who was more than a boss, he was a friend. Whoopi revealed the reason why she stays on the show despite so much pressure for her to step down or be let go. According to Whoopi, Bill and View co-creator Barbara Walters specifically wanted her on the show. So she has remained in her seat out of respect for the duo, both of whom have passed away now.
Her revelation has answered a lot of questions fans had about why she endures so much controversy. And at the end of this week, Whoopi dropped another revelation that tore at the heartstrings. This time, about co-host Joy Behar.
Whoopi Admits She Was Scared For Joy Behar After Hair-Raising Accident
According to Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar suffered an accident on the set of the show that had her scared for her friend and co-host. Joy tried to brush it off, but Whoopi admitted that it was frightening to behold.
Many talk shows use couches or comfortable armchairs for hosts and guests to lounge in. But at The View, the hosts sit around a semi-circular desk with tall chairs. And those chairs led to Joy’s literal downfall one day. On Thursday, the hosts were talking about an incident where Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell seemed to zone out during a press conference. The co-hosts wished him well, then turned to talk of their own scary on-set incident, which involved Joy and a chair.
Joy turned to Whoopi and asked if her friend remembered the time that she fell off a chair on set. Whoopi responded that she did remember, but didn’t want to bring it up because it was so scary. Joy seemed to brush it off, explaining, “Why? My tush missed the seat, that’s all. I was trying to get on, and the thing swirled, that’s all.” But Whoopi said that Joy didn’t see what the rest of them saw. She added, “We saw you trying to figure out how not to fall onto the floor, and that was scary. Because you don’t know whether to catch you and annoy you.” Joy then interrupted, jokingly quipping, “But the chair kept moving, it was like a ride to Coney Island.”
After that incident, producers exchanged the host’s swirling chairs with stable ones. Whoopi jokingly lamented that the new chairs do not fit her behind. But, she said, “The other one, my butt fit on, but it was not good for you. So, we give what we can.”
Do you remember Joy Behar‘s fall? And do you agree with Whoopi Goldberg that it was a frightening moment? Let us know what you think in the comments. And catch The View on ABC on weekday mornings at 11 AM EST.
