Will Big Brother: After Dark be returning this year?

Fans have been wondering if they can expect the supplement reality tv show Big Brother: After Dark to make a return this summer. The show has been sorely missed. After Season 21 of Big Brother, the beloved bonus show disappeared without a peep, leaving fans unsatisfied and yearning for more information. Where did it go, and will it ever return? Read on to see what we know about this beloved Big Brother staple.

BBAD Pulled A Disappearing Act

For years, Big Brother: After Dark was the bonus show that kept fans satiated between episodes. The show allowed fans to peek inside the house between regular episodes. It served as an addition to the Big Brother Live Feeds. Between the core show and the bonus peeks, fans felt like they had unprecedented access to their favorites. It allowed them to bond from a distance with the house occupants and watch the drama play out in a more organic way, away from the intensive filming of each week’s episode.

Originally, BBAD aired on Showtime. This allowed for more nudity and NSFW content than the main episodes could permit. And fans who didn’t want to subscribe to Paramount + for the Live Feeds could still get their insightful look into the house. At the end of its run, BBAD switched to Pop TV. While it didn’t provide the same salacious and NSFW peek that the Showtime version did, it was still better than no BBAD at all.

But the show disappeared after Season 21 of Big Brother. When Season 22 launched, Big Brother: After Dark was nowhere to be found, and fans were curious and bereft.

So Will Big Brother: After Dark Be Returning This Summer?

So will it return? One Twitter user claims to be in the know.

Spoiler Girl 1 posted on Twitter, “They plan to bring back BBAD or what many of you may know as Big Brother After Dark this season.” The user added that it’s unclear whether it will remain on Pop TV or move to CBS alongside the flagship show. The user did not cite any sources for the information they shared.

It seems unlikely that Big Brother: After Dark would make the move to CBS. This is due to programming constraints and content constraints. But if they really are bringing the show back, Pop TV is a natural destination for the bonus show to land. There’s also a compelling reason to think that BBAD may be coming back: the writer’s strike in Hollywood. With scripted shows in peril for an indeterminate amount of time, networks long for a good unscripted show to fill time slots for now. BBAD could fit the bill, even if just temporarily.

So is Big Brother: After Dark coming back for sure? It’s unclear, but there are good reasons to believe it will. Big Brother Season 25 will still be airing this summer, although the air date remains in flux due to delays.

  2. I loved Big Brother After Dark. Orwell was a hoot! I was logging into my Paramount account for the first time in a while to reactivate for the Big Brother Feeds and the Big Brother After Dark Pop TV Photo with orwell. Did Paramount just not update the page for that many years? I dont even think it was a part of paramount when it ended. I miss those days the engagement was great. <3 Love the Big Brother Community. <3
