‘Smallville:’ Allison Mack Snags Early Prison Release

Smallville actress Allison Mack snagged an early prison release, per federal court records. As those who have followed her story know, she was tossed behind bars after pleading guilty to the part she played in the s*x-trafficking case connected to the NXIVM cult. Why was she released early? Smallville: Allison Mack Snags Early Prison Release

As The Today Show reminds us, the actress was handed a three-year sentence in June of 2021. So, the actress was not due to be released from prison for another year. She, however, managed to snag an early release.

Unfortunately, the Bureau of Prisons and Allison Mack’s attorney have not responded to multiple requests for a statement on what was going on. So, there hasn’t been a lot of information made public on why she got an early release. Most, however, suspect it is a combination of good behavior and the facility she was at being overcrowded.

What Exactly Did She Do?

Back in June 2021, Allison Mack was sentenced to three years behind bars for her connection to the NXIVM cult that masqueraded as a self-help group. The actress pled guilty to a plethora of charges in 2019 as she was a high-ranking member of the cult that reportedly recruited women to join. The cult was led by a man named Keith Raniere who is currently serving 120 years behind bars.

Per federal law, Allison Mack should have been sentenced to between 14 and 18 years. The prosecution, however, argued that she was extremely helpful to the investigation. So, her sentence was significantly reduced.

Her lawyers said at the time: “She cannot undo what has been done, and she will have to live with the regret for the rest of her life. But Ms. Mack still holds the potential to be valuable to society — as a family member, as a friend, as a helper to those in need and as a cautionary tale.”

Moreover, her lawyers also made it a point to express her guilt and remorse. In one court filing, it was stated that Allison knew the pain she caused the cult victims and she would have to live with that guilt for the rest of her life.

To date, a lot of people who followed this story were never happy with how it played out and believed the Smallville actress got off way too easily considering her involvement and high ranking. Understandably, those same individuals also don’t like learning she got released early.
