‘Today Show’ Sam Brock Continues Long-Running Tradition
Today Show co-anchor Sam Brock kept the tradition alive. The NBC News correspondent slipped out of his normal suit for a special report. He continued a long-running tradition that was started by a former colleague. Keep on reading to learn more.
Sam Brock feels uncomfortable while embracing tradition
Sam Brock honored a fellow Today Show co-anchor in his segment. He wore a blue chambray shirt with periwinkle shorts and a black belt. Sam felt uncomfortable while embracing tradition. He walked along the beach in his shorts as he shared that “tradition lives on.”
Last week, Sam reported from Miami, Beach. It’s already heating up there at this time of year. Sam revealed that it was hot enough to wear shorts. He also wanted to pay tribute to former colleague Kerry Sanders, who often traveled to hot climates.
“You might be able to tell, I’m wearing wet shorts at the moment,” Sam Brock said. “This is for you Kerry, the tradition lives on.”
He referred to Kerry Sanders, who loved to get his hands and feet wet, sort of speak. Kerry went to the depths of a story to experience it. Today Show fans recall back in September 2022 when Kerry reported in the middle of the ocean. The longtime journalist traveled to Florida to help out the sea turtles.

Some fans expressed concern for him during the live segment. Kerry had trouble keeping his head above water at times. His colleagues Al Roker, Savannah Guthrie, Craig Melvin, and Hoda Kotb watched him as he fed the sea turtles. Kerry rode a boat to the coast of Riviera Beach, Florida to release the turtles back into the ocean.
Kerry held the turtles in the container and released them into the water. He also dove into the waters to help them out. During the segment, he explained that climate change caused most of them to turn into females. Kerry and the other scuba divers held onto flotation devices in the choppy waters.
