Steve Harvey’s First Stand-Up Comedy Gig Got Him $50
Steve Harvey is a seven-time Daytime Emmy Award winner. But, before his life took a turn for good, he struggled to sustain his life. In the Making Space podcast with Hoda Kotb, the actor explained his personal struggles and revealed that he spent almost three years living out of his car. For his first stand-up comedy gig in 1985, he won $50.

He explained, “I went to work the next day, and quit my job. Told everyone I was a professional comedian.”
Hoda Kotb asked, “And you just kept at it?”
To this, Steve Harvey blatantly revealed, “Well, I became homeless. I was living in a car for three years.”
Steve Harvey Never Had Plan-B
The Act Like A Success author explained he never gave up his passion to become a successful comedian. Most of all, he never had any backup plan if he didn’t make it. The author/producer explained, “I never believed in a plan b. Everybody that I know that has had a plan b has had to use it. Because if you have a plan b, you can’t give your all to plan a.”
Steve Harvey mentioned how he almost gave up several times throughout his journey. He explained how he thought he wasn’t going to make it. But, because he had nothing to fall back to, he kept going.

“I just didn’t want to go back home and say I was a failure,” he added.
As reported by The Sun, his dedication and hard work finally landed him his first big break with a televised gig at the Apollo. After the comedian found his first stardom, Steve has been the leading face for an array of TV shows. This includes shows like Little Big Shots, The Steve Harvey Talk Show, Family Feud, and The Steve Harvey Morning Show.
Steve Harvey Found Love With His Third Marriage
Apart from several talk show gigs, Steve Harvey has also been a part of movies like Love Don’t Cost A Thing, Racing Stripes, and You Got Served.
During the interview, Steve Harvey also detailed his married life. After two failed marriages, the star found love with his third wife, Marjorie. The couple has been married since 2007 and shares two daughters Morgan and Lori Harvey. However, Steve also shared five more children with his former wives including Broderick, Karli, Jason, Wynton, and Brandi.
