‘Bringing Up Bates’ Fans Appalled By Unfair Treatment Of Kids
Bringing Up Bates fans are appalled by Gil and Kelly Jo Bates’ unfair treatment of their children. A recent social media post has brought this issue to fans’ attention. So, what’s going on? Keep reading for all of the details.
Fans Question Bates Family’s Rules
If you’re familiar with the Bates family, you know that they follow some pretty strict rules. The girls must wear long skirts or dresses and can’t show too much skin. Rather than dating, they must court and can only go on dates with chaperones present. Several of the Bates kids waited until their wedding days to have their first kisses.
Now that some of the girls are married and have moved out of their parents’ home, they have started dressing in more modern and stylish clothing. Some of them wear skinny jeans, leggings, and other clothing items that would have been frowned upon before.
Now, however, fans have noticed there appears to be unfair treatment between the Bates kids. There has been some talk about Gil and Kelly abandoning their strict rules now that the show is over. Some fans think there is a connection and that the rules were all an act.

After seeing the new photos of Trace and Warden at the flag football championship game, fans took to Reddit to share their thoughts. And it turns out that many of them were totally surprised to see the way the men were dressed. The photo below especially caught fans’ attention. One fan was shocked and wrote, “Their outfits look like underwear.”
As you can see, Trace and Warden are wearing skin-tight outfits. Fans think it’s ridiculous that the boys are allowed to wear tightly-fitting clothing, but the girls must wear such long and bulky skirts. One Reddit user commented, “So the men can wear leggings and biker shorts but Ellie Addee and Callie can’t…. Got it.”
Another one chimed in, “They should have to wear shorts or skirts over their tights just like girls do.” Someone else pointed out the family’s hypocrisy and said, “So much for modesty lol.”
Yet another added, “Trace… Jesus wouldn’t like this 😂 I can’t believe the girls aren’t allowed to wear pants but THIS is ok.”
So, do you think that Gil and Kelly Bates treat their boys and girls unfairly? Do you think this has anything to do with the show ending? Or could there be another reason they suddenly aren’t following their modesty rules so closely anymore?
