Josie Balka Shocks ‘Bringing Up Bates’ Fans With Immodest Photo
Josie Balka’s parents, Gil and Kelly Jo Bates raised her to follow very strict modesty rules. Growing up, the Bringing Up Bates stars dressed conservatively and didn’t show much skin at all. If you watched their TV shows, you may recall seeing the Bates girls in long skirts and dresses.
As the kids have grown up, some of them have started dressing more fashionably. Josie is one of the Bates girls whose style has evolved. She often wears jeans, shorter skirts and dresses, and fitted shirts. She even dresses her daughters, Willow and Hazel, in more fashionable clothes these days. They don’t dress the same way Josie did growing up.

On her Instagram Stories this week, Josie gave Bringing Up Bates fans a look behind the scenes as she did some chores around her house. However, when doing this, she showed off something that fans weren’t expecting.
As you can see in the photo below, Josie Balka was putting away all of her laundry. She said she was “overdue” and had to catch up.
In between the hangers and clothes, a small pile of underwear is visible. This isn’t a big deal for most people. However, because Josie is a Bates family member, it might surprise you that she would post something like this. It certainly doesn’t follow her family’s modesty rules.

On Reddit, fans have reposted the photo from Josie Balka’s Instagram Stories. And many of them are totally surprised that she posted this. One fan said, “Bates girls have really come a long way with their modesty. From long denim skirts only to posting your panties for thousands to see.”
Others are pointing out that these underwear are from Victoria’s Secret, which doesn’t seem to fit the Bates family’s standards. One fan pointed out how surprising this is and said, “They can’t avoid the pictures of scantily clad models.”
Another Bringing Up Bates fan teased, “I’ve been doing modesty all wrong 😂😂😂”
Maybe this is a sign that Josie Balka is totally over her strict upbringing now and ready to do her own thing.
