‘American Idol’ Willie Spence Dead Hours After Chilling Video
American Idol alum Willie Spence was found dead just hours after his chilling video on Instagram. The 23-year-old tragically passed away in a car accident on Tuesday, October 11 in Tennessee. Willie took to social media to share a video of himself that’s haunting fans to this day. The clip shows him showing off his incredible talent.

American Idol mourns Willie Spence
On Wednesday, October 12, the official American Idol Instagram account shared a video of Willie Spence’s audition. He competed in Season 19 of the popular singing competition. Willie ended up in second place behind finalist Chayce Beckham during the finale. The ABC singing competition shared the sad news of his passing.
“We are devastated about the passing of our beloved American Idol family member, Willie Spence.” the Instagram post reads. “He was a true talent who lit up every room he entered and will be deeply missed. We send our condolences to his loved ones.”

Katy Perry took to the comment section to write, “I love you Willie… purest soul. Sing with the angels my darling.” Maddie Poppe commented, “Absolutely heartbreaking. RIP Willie Spence. Casey Bishop simply wrote, “Willie❤️” while Olivia Ximines commented, “Anyone who was able to meet him and witness his raw talent and loving spirit was truly blessed.”
Many of the former American Idol contestants shared their warm thoughts, prayers, and stories about Willie. The Douglas native passed away following an automobile accident in Tennessee. Just hours before his death, the American Idol alum shared a video of himself singing a hopeful Christian song. He shot the video while sitting behind the wheel. Willie sang the Christian song, “Lord You Are My Hiding Place” as he wore a red T-shirt. He sang a powerful song with all his being.

Willie captioned the clip: “Lord, you are my hiding place” with the microphone and crying emoji. He shared the video just hours before the news broke that he passed away in a car crash.
