American Idol alum Caleb Kennedy got out of jail after his fatal DUI. As TV Shows Ace previously reported, he was on suicide watch. His lawyer said that he’s expressed sorrow to the family. Due to the ongoing case, he struggled with his mental health.

Kennedy was in jail for his DUI arrest. He allegedly ran over a man in his driveway and killed him. Kennedy was under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident. He would’ve ended up with 25 years in jail and a $25,000 fine if he was found guilty of the fatal accident. Read on to see why Kennedy is now out of jail.

Former American Idol contestant released from jail

The former American Idol contestant left jail after the fatal DUI crash. On Friday, May 20, Caleb Kennedy was released on a $50,000 bond, per New York Post. The court case is ongoing. He will await trial for allegedly hitting and killing the man with his pickup truck. Kennedy was placed under house arrest at his South Carolina home.

He will receive mental health treatment while he’s there. The aspiring country singer has been in jail since February 2022. The American Idol’s time in jail has caused him great distress. His lawyer revealed that he kept replaying the events of the scene in his mind.

According to police, Kennedy drove off the road onto a private driveway. He allegedly ran his truck into Larry Duane Parris’ workshop, killing the 54-year-old man upon impact. Kennedy was under the influence of marijuana and Prozac at the time of the incident.

The toxicology report revealed what happened during the fatal accident. The former American Idol star told police that he took a “deep draw” from his vape pen and felt the effects of the marijuana as he drove. Kennedy could still face 25 years in prison if he is convicted of a felony for driving under the influence resulting in the man’s death.

Caleb Kennedy’s music career came to an end

Kennedy was a Top 5 contestant on American Idol Season 19. However, his career aspirations came to a halt after a clip of him sitting next to him dressed as one of the members of the Ku Klux Klansman surfaced on social media. The incident took place in 2020, at the height of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Kennedy apologized for that incident. However, his mother told reporters that he was 12 years old when he took the photo. Kennedy claimed to be one of the characters from the horror movie, The Strangers: Prey at Night. Since his time on American Idol, his life has been rife with problems.
