‘American Pickers’ Hits New Low After Major Changes
American Pickers has hit a new low. This comes amid the major changes that are taking place with the show. Some fans say the History Channel is to blame for the decisions it made. Read on to learn more.
Moved to a new timeslot
Earlier this month, American Pickers moved to a new timeslot. The long-running series has always aired at 9:00 p.m. ET on the History Channel. However, it moved to the 8:00 p.m. ET timeslot without warning fans about the move.
As TV Shows Ace previously reported, this hurt the ratings. The August 27 episode lost out on 200,000 viewers. Only 829,000 people tuned in that Saturday. Most of them probably didn’t know that the show aired an hour earlier.
The network made another interesting decision. Over the Labor Day weekend, the show didn’t air a new episode. Some fans were left wondering why a new episode of American Pickers wasn’t on. While most people were away on vacation for the last hurrah, others were at home and were looking forward to watching the show.
Not bringing back Frank Fritz
At the time of this writing, the show has no interest in bringing back original cast member Frank Fritz. He was fired from American Pickers for unknown reasons. Fans have been demanding producers to bring him back. Even Mike Wolfe joined in on the fun by selling his own line of “Bring Back Frank” T-shirts at his antique store in Iowa.
Season 23 of American Pickers premiered on January 1, 2022, without Frank at the helm. He was replaced by Mike’s little brother, Robbie. Some fans called the move shady and think Robbie is too “boring.” They liked Frank’s charm and humor and thought he was the perfect fit even if he feuded with Mike.
Amerian Pickers airs repeats on the History Channel
The show made another interesting decision in recent weeks. The History Channel has aired old episodes of American Pickers with Frank featured in them. This could be their last-ditch effort to boost ratings. However, it won’t work since fans are smart enough to know that he’s not making a comeback anytime soon.
The 56-year-old is currently recovering from a stroke he suffered this past summer. It could take a long time for him to recover. As of recently, the network re-aired a former episode that starred Frank Fritz and Mike Wolfe. It aired on Saturday, the same time when new episodes of American Pickers come out.

New ratings low
According to a new report, the show hit an all-time low. It had the lowest ratings of the season after American Pickers producers made major changes and last-ditch efforts to boost ratings. Per The Sun, the Saturday, September 17 episode attracted only 762,000 fans.
This is the lowest drop in ratings since the show returned on July 9, 2022. What are your thoughts? Do you think it’s the end of American Pickers? Do you still watch it? Sound off below in the comment section.
