Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz want to move on quickly. This comes after the former VPR couple announced their split on social media. Katie and Schwartz are ending their five-year marriage. In the Bravo series, they married in 2016 and again in 2019. They were together for 12 years.

Earlier this week, Radar Online reported that Katie Maloney served Tom Schwartz at their Valley Village home. The two are still living together for the time being. However, Katie started the process of the divorce.

According to the documents obtained by Radar Online on Wednesday, April 27, Katie confirmed to the court in a new filing that the paralegal mailed copies of her divorce petition to Schwartz at their home. The service took place on March 25, 2022, just after the two confirmed their split to their followers on Instagram.

Katie is representing herself in the divorce case. The former couple wants to wrap up the divorce proceedings as quickly as possible. This is different from a previous report which claimed that they both could drag out the divorce longer than they need to. Katie is the one who filed for divorce.

Tom Schwartz acknowledged the paperwork

Schwartz acknowledged the paperwork and signed in. He is expected to file a response to the divorce in the next few weeks. Katie Maloney filed for divorce at the Los Angeles Superior court. She requested that neither would pay spousal support and noted they split two days before Valentine’s Day.

Their date of separation was for February 12, 2022. Katie Maloney and Schwartz melted the internet when they announced their split. Most fans were shocked by the news. However, others had a feeling since there were rumors in the weeks leading up to the announcement.

“Well, this sucks. How am I supposed to capture 12 years of love in a f***ing canned Instagram caption,” Schwartz wrote on Instagram. “I’m not quite ready to use the ‘D’ word bc [sic] it’s too painful.”

Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz made their first public appearance since the news of their split. They attended the grand opening of Lisa Vanderpump’s new restaurant Vanderpump à Paris in Las Vegas. The two spoke to Page Six that they plan to move out of the home they purchased in 2019.

“We’ve actually been helping each other find places,” Katie Maloney told Page Six. “I’ll be like, ‘I think this place would be really good for you. I think you’ll really like it. You should go check it out.”

While they’re both moving on, they don’t want to be too far away from each other. In another interview with Us Weekly, she admitted they still need to “split custody” of their dogs. Schwartz said he’s “really happy for Katie” as she embarks on her “next chapter.”
