Katie Maloney spoke out about their divorce on the Sunday, April 10, episode of the We Met At Acme podcast. She gave more details on her decision to divorce Schwartz. She began to have doubts at “the end of last summer/fall.” That’s when she started having these thoughts about taking care of her own needs and happiness.

At first, Katie ignored them. But then the thoughts started to get louder and louder with each passing month. She continued to brush them off. She admitted that she wasn’t “wanting to see it for what it was.”

“It wouldn’t have been one thing. I had been expressing my feelings and where I felt that I was, again, not getting my needs met, and where I thought I was being hurt by some of the behavior and I don’t think he understood or resonated or agreed with [it],” Katie Maloney said. “It would just require a shift and all of that. … I understand you can’t really, like, change a person.”

Schwartz couldn’t do anything to change her mind. Katie’s mind was already set. The problem was how to tell him that she was not happy. She admitted they “changed” and “grown apart,” admitting their marriage “wasn’t the healthiest thing.”

Katie Maloney said that he didn’t “fight” her on it. He was just “really sad” when she shared her true feelings. Schwartz could tell that Katie was “serious” about how she felt since it wasn’t caused by an argument. At that moment, he realized there was nothing he could do to save their relationship.

Katie Maloney also revealed what she thinks about Tom Schwartz dating again. She said she was ready to date again. But how would she feel about seeing her ex-husband back on the market? Since the two are still living together, there are “obstacles” that will prevent them from moving on.

Katie Maloney says she feels “out of my element.” She didn’t use social media or dating apps when she met Schwartz. This time around, Katie’s looking for someone who “isn’t worried about what every single person in the room thinks and how they’re feeling” and who doesn’t prioritize partying over starting a family.

The Bravo star admits it’ll be “weird” when Schwartz starts dating again, but she doesn’t see it as a betrayal. She would rather see him with someone who’s a “good person.” Katie has a feeling that they will stay friends since Schwartz isn’t the “jealous” type. They maintained their friendship even if their marriage fell apart.
