‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht’ Captain Glenn Teases ‘Tense Situation’
Below Deck Sailing Yacht star Captain Glenn Shephard teased a “tense situation” that takes place in Season 3. The new season kicked off on Monday, February 21. So far, it has lived up to the hype. The one-hour-15-minute premiere episode had everything that fans are looking for. There’s already a love triangle, uncomfortable charter guests, and hard-partying crew members.
Yet, it’s not always fun and games. This season is sure to have its share of drama. In a new interview, Captain Glenn teased that things will get tense on the high seas. This drama has nothing to do with the charter guests or the crew members.
Captain Glenn Shephard talks about the intense moment
The Below Deck Sailing Yacht star sat down for an exclusive interview with TV Insider. He talked about the “tense situation” that will unfold this season. It had to do with the wild and unpredictable weather. That’s something that even the seasoned captain can’t control.
“Weather is always a challenge. We are also looking for places we can take guests that are protective waters. You can’t always find that,” the Below Deck Sailing Yacht star said. “Sometimes you do have to deal with bad weather, usually for a couple of days. The local weather conditions really are a part of the show… You’ll get an area of disturbed weather that passes through.”
It’s the wind that causes the rough and shaky charters this season. Below Deck Sailing Yacht fans are aware of how the yacht itself can tip over. Most of the time, it’s caused by waves. The strong winds lead to an increase in waves, which makes chartering difficult for everyone. However, the Bravo star says they do their best to make sure that nothing serious happens.
“We always have somebody who is meant to be watching to make sure the boat is secure, especially if we are going to get rest for the evening,” Captain Glenn said. “If that happens, it can be challenging and risky. It’s a very tense situation.”
What the Below Deck Sailing Yacht star learned about himself
He’s been part of Below Deck Sailing Yacht since its inception. Prior to that, he’s had a long career in the yachting industry. There’s nothing like yachting on TV. During the interview, he revealed the one thing that he learned about himself.
“You’re going to encounter issues and problems… You have to be willing to adapt and move forward. Everything is a learning experience. A lot of what I do is work with personalities and try to get the best out of them.”
Glenn also shared how the pandemic played a role in filming. He said that they’re still following strict protocols to ensure the safety and health of everyone. They learned a lot while filming during Season 2. Glenn’s dream season is to sail in Thailand.
When he meets Below Deck Sailing Yacht fans, they want to talk about Gary King. In fact, Glenn is still sailing with the first mate to this day. Fans also want to know when they’ll ever sail to Croatia as the Below Deck Med crew do. Glenn teased that he doesn’t “like talking about it too much.”
