As we previously reported, Amy Halterman revealed she is smoking while pregnant with baby #2. She admitted she was trying to cut back on how many cigarettes she smokes in a day. Behind-the-scenes footage from Season 3 of 1000-Lb. Sisters reveals Amy Halterman has no qualms about smoking in front of children. The footage first popped up on TikTok before getting reshared on Reddit. The footage was from the episode where Amy and Tammy take their mother out to enjoy high tea. The video features a photo of Amy Halterman posing with a little girl for a photo. Presumably, a fan spotted the sisters having high tea.
What 1000-Lb. Sisters found shocking about the photo was Amy Halterman standing right next to this child while she had a cigarette grasped in her hand. Fans admit they were a little horrified to see Amy thought it was alright to smoke right beside a child. This got some fans wondering. What about Gage? Does Amy Halterman smoke cigarettes near her son Gage? If she sees no issues smoking close to a stranger’s child… Why would she have an issue smoking in front of her own children?
Other evidence supports this theory
As we previously reported, many fans believe TLC was trying to hide the fact that Amy Halterman smoked. But, eagle-eyed fans spotted an ashtray in the background on a table in their living room. The ashtray was full of cigarette butts and ashes. Fans pointed out the ashtray was a dead giveaway Amy smoked inside of her home and around Gage. They pointed out people who went outside to smoke didn’t have overflowing ashtrays on their end tables in the living room.

Amy please stop smoking around your son and in the house. my dad was a smoker while I was still living there and I have all kinds of breathing problems now. second hand smoke is as dangerous as if he were smoking himself. if you love your kids stop smoking for their health in the future.
Smoking causes newborn babies to have low birthweight. I don’t think you are so concerned about Gage and his brother if you smoke in front of them. Michael seems so grounded, why hasn’t he put his foot down?
Thats a fable that smoking causes low birth weight. People should mind their own affairs. I know people that died from lung cancer and was not around any tobacco. Also cirrhosis that never drank an ounce of alcohol. Quit persecuting another human being and catagorizing when you know you are not perfect either.

I know many many women who smoked or smokes around their kids or while being pregnant, myself included and you know what my 3 children are Intelligent Professionals high in positions in their career’s.
They chose not to smoke inside a closed in car ect but as I said that’s Their choice not mine or anyone else’s so don’t make judgement on others unless you have a Perfect Life with no bad habits that others might Not agree with!!

Let this woman live her life. Do what you want to do and let her do the same. I bet half the comments are from non smokers or people that went outside to smoke I don’t see anything wrong if you want to leave your baby inside while your outside. I agree with you. I was pregnant 6 times, and raised all my Babies around me smoking. None of them have any lung problems, all are very healthy, and None of them smoke themselves.

I think it’s sad that people are so judgmental about everything the sisters do and don’t do! I hope Amy reads your post so she knows someone is standing up to everyone who judges her. I think she’s a awesome mom.

They do realize that these women were in a abusive home, had very little education outside of high school and raised poor. I mean the fact that she isn’t abusing drugs or her children is a miracle. If she wants she will quit smoking. Is it nasty, yes. Is it my business, no.
Until your child is being in and out the ER for breathing issues. My old coworker had that same mindset and the baby smelt like an ashtray! They were getting turned in for endangerment. Baby never had the fresh new born smell poor little guy

I don’t believe that Amy should be smoking around her son, and while she’s pregnant with baby #2. It’s not healthy for her or her family, and Michael needs to grow a pair and put his foot down. I hope someday they pass a law that makes smoking illegal. Smoking even makes you, and your home, smell dirty, and Amy has been accused of not keeping a hygienic home. it is illegal to smoke inside a car with children. and smoking is so nasty and dirty. secondhand smoke is just as dangerous as inhaling. and inside a closed room is very bad for children. I love the show, but their homes are filthy too. I think they need education for what it can do to a child in the womb or in a closed room.dirty homes and smoke inside cause much illness. asthma and copd.. they need a maid and some counseling on baby raising.

Couldn’t agree more! I was an adult before Doctors quit smoking in their offices. They had Physicians only smoking rooms in hospitals, ashtrays in every hospital room, waiting room, store, etc. Almost everyone smoked. It’s their business not ours

Because of the danger of second hand smoke, the effects of pollution on others, the environment, and the medical and EPA scientific proof that second hand smoke causes CANCER!–It is difficult for some not to smoke! But, those who do smoke are more prone to contract diseases such as COPD, Lung Cancer, Emphysema, Bronchitis, and other Cardio-Pulmo ary/Vascular and Respiratory conditions!–Plus, it is more difficult to lose weight when one smokes!–If Halterman cares about herself and her children 1&2, she will STOP that smoking–After contracting severe Bronchitis twice in 1975/76 and my husband having COPD, Emphysema, and other medical conditions, after 2 weeks to 1 month taking 3000 mg of Vitamin C, I stopped smoking, and have not smoked since (46+ years)! Anyone can stop smoking; so can Halterman! Especially, if she loves and cares about her children! ACWB

Lighten up guys. Amy is a great mom. Remember, no one said anything in the 60s & 70s when EVERYONE smoked EVERYWHERE! We were babies. In the grocery store, in the car, in the movies, on the bus, on the train, in bus & train stations, airplanes, airports, in the hospital, in the dental office, in the elevator, the teachers inside the school! The list goes on! 😌

You need to check your states laws cause where i live its against the law to smoke around your children. So if someone where i live is smoking in a car with kids you will go to jail. So please check the laws where you live.

If you are on a reality show or social media, you are making your life and what you do everybody’s business. People like to give their opinions – that’s why comment boards exist. It’s scientific fact that smoking and second-hand smoke is harmful to your health. It is just irresponsible and reprehensible for a parent to subject their children to that poison. I quit that disgusting habit 35 years ago. After you do, you’re able to smell how gross you and your environs are to others. It’s hard but possible. Cold turkey, avoid others who smoke, do something else at times you used to smoke. Once, you’re out of addiction, it’s amazing how disgusting smoking is to you and you don’t want to anymore.

Back in 2015, A Dr told me that the only common side effect of smoking while pregnant is low birth weight & even that doesn’t always happen.. While She doesn’t condone it – She said she had patients that smoked entire multiple packs of cigs daily and still had healthy big babies. I know it sounds like a load of rubbish & I wouldn’t have believed it myself had I not heard it with my own ears….

I always wondered why Amy had a smoker’s laugh since I never saw her smoking on the show. This explains it.
Amy, please stop smoking! Smoking is a death sentence! My father smoked for years (in our home) my mother never smoked and has emphysema. My father died a terrible death from lung and esophageal Cancer. It was horrible to witness he basically choked to death! My husband smoked for 35 years is now on oxygen and is battling COPD. Our house used to be filled with smoke and I would open the back door to let the smoke out and fresh air in! Please don’t put your children through this! If you have to smoke… go outside. Don’t damage your children’s precious 🫁 lungs. You know it’s bad for you! I hope you will do the right thing. I think you are a very good Mother and person.
