In a shocking turn of events, 1000-Lb. Sisters fans have been clued into the fact that Amy Halterman is smoking while pregnant with baby number 2. Fans have to wonder if Amy Halterman also smoked while she was pregnant with Gage. Likewise, fans wonder if Amy smokes near Gage.
What is really shocking about this piece of information is the fact that many 1000-Lb. Sisters fans had no idea Amy Halterman was a smoker. Did she quit smoking when she was losing weight or when she got pregnant with Gage? Did she recently take smoking back up? Or, did the network just want to hide the habit from viewers?
For the most part, 1000-Lb. Sisters painted Amy Halterman in a decent light. The biggest flaw they focused on with Amy was her inability to clean the house. If 1000-Lb. Sisters fans knew Amy Halterman was a smoker… It is possible they would have developed slightly different opinions about her. This is especially true if they knew she smoked while pregnant or smoked around her son, Gage.

In a Reddit thread from a year ago, 1000-Lb. Sisters fans discuss things fans don’t know about the sisters. Amy Halterman and Tammy Slaton had a decent YouTube following where they made videos for years before getting picked up by TLC. According to the individual who made the thread, it was no secret that both Amy and her sister Tammy were smokers. They both made a habit of smoking frequently in their YouTube videos.
1000-Lb. Sisters fans, however, don’t recall Amy Halterman smoking in the series. (At least not during the last two seasons). One fan went as far as to speculate the network might’ve asked the sisters not to smoke while they were filming.
The individual who started the Reddit thread penned: “And yes, they are smokers. I see people ask that often and I just want to clarify that they used to smoke cigarettes on their channels all the time. Maybe they quit? Or maybe TLC has asked them to hide the cigarettes while they’re on the show?”
She did smoke behind the cameras
A couple of months ago, a behind-the-scenes clip from the episode involving Amy and Tammy taking their mother out for high tea was posted on Reddit. Apparently, the video was originally posted on TikTok. You can watch the video down below.
As the video progresses, viewers see Amy Halterman holding a cigarette while standing next to a child and posing for a picture. In the Reddit thread, fans point out Amy Halterman having one cigarette to smoke means she is definitely a smoker and has plenty more at home.
Likewise, fans also spotted an overflowing ashtray on a table in the background during an episode of 1000-Lb. Sisters Season 3. So, fans speculate Amy Halterman has been a smoker for nearly a decade.
