Marlon Wayans’ Netflix Original Halloween Movie ‘Boo!’: What We Know

Netflix is teaming up with Marlon Wayans again for his next Halloween movie Boo! This fun action-comedy project also stars Stranger Things popular cast member Priah Ferguson. Meanwhile, the film explores the relationship between a father and daughter in a fun and adventurous Halloween setting. Read on to find out all we know about this upcoming Netflix Original film.

Deadline first reported about the movie, which comes 20 years after Marlon Wayans’ Scary Movie franchise. He will once again make audiences laugh in this upcoming project. This upcoming Halloween movie, starring Wayans and Priah Ferguson certainly sounds like a whole load of fun. Wayans is teaming up with Netflix again for the comedy-adventure film, directed by Jeff Wadlow.

Wadlow is known for his work on Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Truth or Dare, Kick-Ass 2, and more.  This isn’t Marlon’s first project with Netflix, as he previously produced and starred in the 2019 comedy Sextuplets. He also starred in the 2017 Groundhog Day rom-com Naked.

Wayans will produce the Netflix film along with Rick Alvarez for Ugly Baby Productions. The script for the movie was written by Todd Berger (The Happytime Murders), Rob Rugan and John R. Morey (Family Guy).

What is the synopsis of Boo!?

The Netflix movie follows the story of a teenage girl (Priah Ferguson), who accidentally unleashes an ancient and mischievous spirit on Halloween. Meanwhile, the spirit causes decorations in the town to come alive and wreak havoc. The teen must now team up with the last person she would want to in order to save their town – her skeptical father (Marlon Wayans).

Cast of the Netflix Halloween film

Marlon Wayans portrays the father and is known for a number of iconic comedy films. These include such movies as White Chicks, Scary Movie, Little Man and, most recently, the Aretha Franklin biopic Respect.

The daughter is played by Priah Ferguson, who is already a fan-favorite to Netflix viewers as Erica Sinclair in Stranger Things. It is very easy to imagine Priah playing this character after enjoying her work in that popular series.

When can we expect the release of Boo!?

According to issue 1261 of Production Weekly, the Netflix movie Boo! is set to enter production in October 2021. Meanwhile, the filming location is reportedly Atlanta, Georgia. Fans naturally shouldn’t be too excited, believing the film could drop in time for Halloween 2021. However, it would make sense for the action-comedy film to drop on the streaming channel somewhere around Halloween 2022.
