About Uncoupled on Netflix
Darren Star (Emily in Paris and Sex & the City) is partnering up with Netflix for another romantic comedy series, Uncoupled. He will be co-creating alongside the multiple Emmy winner Jeffrey Richman (Modern Family and Frasier). Both co-creators are excited about partnering up with the streaming channel for the new series.
Star and Richman said in a statement that they “couldn’t hope for a more perfect home for Uncoupled than Netflix.” They said a romantic comedy with a gay leading man is a “passion project” for them that feels both “personal and universal.”
Netflix’s VP of Original Comedy Series, Tracey Pakosta, is also excited. She said in a statement that the streaming channel is excited to partner with Darren on another exciting new series. Pakosta said both Darren and Jeffrey have “continuously permeated the zeitgeist” by creating stories and characters that resonate with audiences around the world.
Season 1 of Uncoupled will have eight episodes and will be produced by MTV Entertainment as well as Netflix. Executive producers will be Tony Hernandez and Lilly Burns of Jax Media.
