Who Broke Into The ‘Love Island’ Villa In Mallorca?
On the night of July 6, an intruder broke into the luxurious Love Island villa on the Spanish island of Mallorca. A spokesperson for the ITV show said the security breach was quickly identified. Security immediately removed the intruder from the villa. However, this was no normal break-in as it turns out it was the work of a notorious YouTube prankster. In fact, this was something he had been planning for a long time.
YouTuber breaks into Love Island villa
According to the Love Island spokesperson, the affected area of the villa has since been “fully deep cleaned” as part of their COVID-19 measures. The whole of the villa is once again accessible to the crew and the show’s contestants.
Love Island is a dating show, where single people are shipped off to a villa on an island to find love. The ITV reality show attracts millions of viewers, but now it seems it also attracts pranksters.
YouTuber Omer Majid is a notorious prankster with almost 10,000 followers on his channel, but that could increase after his latest stunt. Omer claims he has been planning to break into the Love Island villa for a long time. He finally managed to travel from the UK with three other people to complete his mission. In fact, Majid managed to sneak into the luxury villa, while the dating show is filming its seventh season.
YouTuber filmed inside the villa
Majid claims that he filmed video footage while he and his friends wandered the corridors of the villa. However, they were soon tracked down by security guards. Reportedly, one guard told them they were trespassing on private property and threw them out.
ITV has confirmed that the YouTuber did manage to access the Love Island villa. However, they noted that Omer didn’t make contact with any of the contestants. They were apparently sleeping at the time of the stunt and missed all the excitement.
Euro Weekly News quotes Majid in an interview with the Daily Star, where he told them he had been planning the prank for a long time. He claimed he found out about the area via Internet searches. Majid then drove around the island for around five hours the day before the stunt to find a suitable way in. Despite reasonably heavy security at the villa, he and his fellow pranksters were able to sneak in. In fact, Majid reckons he got cuts from climbing into the villa. It is currently unknown whether Majid will upload the footage he took during the break-in to his YouTube channel.
Love Island row
The security incident comes after Tuesday night’s episode of Love Island, where a fight erupted in the villa. Hugo Hammond upset a number of the other contestants by saying his biggest turn-off was “fake” personalities and looks. It ended up with Hammond, 24, apologizing to Sharon Gaffka, 25, and Faye Winter, 26, both of which said they have undergone cosmetic procedures.
The episode also saw “bombshell” contestants, Millie Court and Lucinda Strafford enter the villa after the girls went out for lunch.
Love Island airs on ITV and the ITV hub.
