Fox News Gets Criticized After On-Air ‘Mistake’ Involving President Trump
President Donald Trump was recently at the center of a Fox and Friends Weekend story after attending a somber event. However, many on social media noticed a mistake during the coverage. Since then, the program has recently tried to explain the situation, while others have been sharing their reactions online.
President Donald Trump Appeared At Dover Air Force Base To Honor Six Service Members Killed
This past Saturday, President Donald Trump attended the “dignified transfer” at Dover Air Force Base. Such a transfer refers to the remains of United States service members who were killed in action being returned to the States
This recent transfer was meant to honor six United States service members who were killed in Kuwait. The six were identified as Major Jeffrey O’Brien, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert Marzan, Captain Cody Khork, Sgt. 1st Class Nicole Amor, Sgt. 1st Class Noah Tietjens, and Sgt. Declan Coady.

The following day, Fox and Friends Weekend covered the story. At the time, Griff Jenkins shared, “President Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance and [Second] Lady Usha Vance [attended] a dignified transfer to honor the final homecoming of the six US service members killed in Kuwait. The solemn ritual returns the remains of troops killed in action. It is considered one of the most somber duties of a commander in chief.”
However, during the coverage, the program used the wrong footage. Instead, the story was shared alongside a clip of President Donald Trump attending another dignified transfer from a few years earlier.
Commenters Shared Comparisons Between The Footage Of The Two Transfers
The following day, Jenkins apologized for the issue, describing what happened as a “mistake.” At the time, he shared, “We inadvertently aired video from an older dignified transfer. Instead of the ceremony that took place yesterday. We deeply regret the air and extend our respect and condolences to the service members’ families. We honor the sacrifice of those six American heroes.”
While attending the event, President Donald Trump could be seen wearing a “USA” golf cap. He reportedly did not appear to remove the hat during the event.
Don’t let Fox get away with it this time. Spread the word.

As noted by Radar Online, there was speculation on social media that different footage was used to cover up the president wearing a hat. Taking to X, one person wrote:
- “They ‘made the mistake’ because they didn’t want to show Trump with a baseball cap on.”
Another shared:
- “It was done on purpose to hide his dishonorable & disgraceful behavior.”
Political commentator Ron Filipkowski also expressed a similar sentiment on social media. As he noted, “They aired old footage because they didn’t want to show Trump wearing his campaign hat during the ceremony. Then, in this statement, they STILL don’t show the correct footage of Trump.”
This is a bs “apology” from Fox. They claim it was “inadvertent” – a lie. They aired old footage because they didn’t want to show Trump wearing his campaign hat during the ceremony. Then in this statement they STILL don’t show the correct footage of Trump. https://t.co/KVx23pyFVa

For its part, Fox News shared the more recent footage of the dignified transfer on X in a post shared on March 7, 2026. The post was captioned, “President Trump salutes 20-year-old U.S. Army Sgt. Declan J. Coady, who was killed in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait, during a dignified transfer at Dover Air Force Base.”
