President Trump Has Harsh Words For Bill Maher Over White House Dinner
President Donald Trump has encountered all sorts of figures throughout his career, whether as a media personality, businessman, or politician. One such figure was comedian Bill Maher. Recently, the president took to social media to discuss a dinner he had with the media figure. Notably, Maher himself also previously discussed the story.
President Donald Trump Discussed A White House Dinner With Bill Maher
Trump is currently the 47th president of the United States, assuming office in 2025. He previously served as president from 2017 to 2021.
In 2022, Trump helped launch the social media platform, Truth Social. Since then, he has often used it to share his comments on various figures and current events.

Recently, Trump took to the platform to discuss a dinner with political commentator and comedian Bill Maher. Previously known for hosting Politically Incorrect, Maher currently hosts the HBO talk show, Real Time with Bill Maher.
Taking to Truth Social, Trump shared that Maher “asked to have dinner with me through one of his friends, also a friend of mine, and I agreed.” After he arrived at the White House, Trump admitted that he was surprised by Maher’s attitude, noting that he was “extremely nervous [and] had ZERO confidence in himself.” Calling it almost “endearing,” Trump shared that Maher even admitted he wasn’t acting like himself.

While initially claiming that Maher was “very respectful,” Trump eventually felt things took a turn, with Trump calling the meeting a “waste of time.” After talking about Canadian leaders, Trump mused that China could one day ban ice hockey in Canada, even eliminating The Stanley Cup. He added that it was then Maher “went on and on about the Hockey statement, like ‘What kind of a person would say such a foolish thing as this,’ as though I were being serious when I said it.”
Trump Also Compared Maher To Other Late Show Hosts, From Kimmel To Colbert
As noted by Variety, Trump’s comments appear to be a reaction to comments made by Maher concerning his hockey comments this past Friday. In his recent post, Trump continued, criticizing his show’s ratings.
Trump continued, “Fortunately, his television ratings are so low that nobody will learn about his various fake news statements about me.” The president then compared Maher to other late-night media figures. He shared, “He is no different than Kimmel, Fallon, or Colbert but, I must admit, slightly more talented!”

As the outlet noted, back in April, Maher shared a gentler account of this dinner on his show. At the time, the Real Time host described the president as “gracious” and “much more self-aware than he lets on in public.” He also shared, “I’ve never seen him laugh in public. But he does, including at himself. He’s not fake.”
