Gayle King Prepares For New Chapter At CBS Amid Shake-Up
A new era for CBS News began in September when CBS Mornings left its Times Square location to move back to the CBS Broadcast Center in New York City. It was the first of many changes for the network. A merger between Paramount Global and Skydance Media set off a revamping that left Gayle King’s future with the news department in doubt.
An insider revealed surprising details about her next chapter. Keep reading for the latest on the developing situation.
New Editor-In-Chief Shakes Things Up At CBS
Bari Weiss took over as editor-in-chief at CBS’s news division after the merger went through. The new leadership is reportedly more conservative than the previous regime. CBS Evening News lost longtime anchor John Dickerson when he announced his departure in October. His co-anchor, Maurice DuBois, followed suit. Their official last airdate was in December.

CBS Mornings host Tony Dokoupil was promoted to sole anchor for the nightly news program. His tenure got off to a rocky start. His departure from the morning show left a gaping hole that the network has yet to fill. But CBS Mornings may have more seats to fill amid rumors of Gayle King’s exit.
Gayle King Prepares For New Chapter
Rumors have swirled for months about Gayle King’s future at CBS. Variety reported in October that the network didn’t plan on renewing the morning host’s contract when it expires in May. Gayle King has stayed neutral about the rumors, refusing to confirm or deny speculation about her contract.

But that doesn’t mean no one else is talking. A source close to the network spilled the tea about Gayle King’s future with CBS News. The insider claimed that the network wants to keep her on contract, but in a smaller role.
According to Straight Shuter columnist Rob Shuter’s source, CBS plans to create a new role for Gayle King. “She’s basically moving into a ‘special projects’ role. She can still headline big interviews, still be a face for the network, but her role will be drastically reduced,” the source claimed.

The biggest issue is reportedly money. Gayle King reportedly took a pay cut a few years ago to stay at the network. According to the insider, her salary will face another reduction in the coming months.
The pay cut speculation comes amid reports that CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss is trying to lure NBC’s Hoda Kotb to take over CBS Mornings. “It’s a win-win. Gayle keeps her reputation, CBS keeps a marquee name, and the viewers don’t lose her presence entirely,” the source said.
Gayle King’s future with CBS News hasn’t been officially confirmed. But many agree that the writing is on the wall, and her role on the network will change drastically in a few months.

She should go! She’s been over-exposed for a long time! She was nobody until she was known as Oprah’s friend, then she seemed to be everywhere, riding on Oprah’s coat-tails at weddings, promotions, premiers, vacations, businesses!
Agree! Stopped watching the regular tv shows long time ago especially since they all went totally liberal and woke! But Gayle king especially,no talent boring side kick of Oprah! Like the first comment, only reason she’s on tv was because her good friend was Oprah!
