CBS News’ Tony Dokoupil Mocked By Wife’s Ex Over Interview
CBS viewers saw Tony Dokoupil make a big change as he recently hosted an interview connected to a current event. However, this did not go without backlash, with various figures, including those with a background in media, criticizing the newscaster on social media. In fact, one critic actually has a surprising connection to Dokoupil.
CBS’ Tony Dokoupil Recently Added A New Role To His Resume
Dokoupil is known for his various roles with CBS. He recently became the anchor of CBS Evening News after previously co-hosting CBS Mornings.
Before joining CBS in 2016, Dokoupil also worked for NBC News and MSNBC. He has also worked for Newsweek and The Daily Beast.
Recently, viewers got to see Dokoupil’s debut anchoring CBS Evening News sooner than expected. He appeared during the January 3 broadcast, despite his debut originally being scheduled for the following Monday.
However, Dokoupil’s inaugural appearance was not without criticism. In particular, there was backlash concerning his failure to question Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth on the use of United States troops to occupy Venezuela.
Journalist Phil Williams called out Dokoupil over the Hegseth interview on X, writing that he failed to “pin” him on the use of the troops. This was shared by Keith Olbermann in a screenshot.
Keith Olbermann Has A Past With Someone In Dokoupil’s Life
In his post, Olbermann wrote, “The fear on the new CBS chief propagandist @tonydokoupil is unmistakable. Say the wrong thing and Bari Weiss will replace him with…” He added, “Bari Weiss, probably.”
Olbermann actually has an interesting connection to Dokoupil. From 2006 to 2009, he dated MS NOW correspondent Katy Tur. She and Dokoupil married in 2017 in Utah, sharing a son and a daughter together, in addition to two children from Dokoupil’s previous marriage.

As noted by TV Insider, Olbermann and Tur remained on friendly terms until around 2016. At the time, Olbermann criticized Tur on his podcast, Countdown with Keith Olbermann.
Other figures have also recently criticized Dokoupil over the broadcast. When the newscast was shared on Instagram, CBS News correspondent Don Dahler wrote, “Tony, you know I have enormous respect and affection for you. I know you’re a solid journalist and legitimate heir to the big desk at CBS News. But this sounds like it was written by Bari Weiss.”
