‘The View’ Ana Navarro Banned From Her Home Country, Nicaragua
The co-hosts of The View often share stories from their own lives on the show. During a recent episode of the show, Ana Navarro opened up about being barred from the country of her birth, Nicaragua. This came out during a Hot Topic discussion on the show.
Ana Navarro Left Nicaragua With Her Family In 1980
Navarro was born in Chinandega, Nicaragua. She moved with her family to the United States in 1980. Attending school in Florida, she eventually earned her Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University School of Law.
Over the years, Navarro has served as a commentator for various outlets, including ABC News and Telemundo. However, many arguably know her best as a co-host on The View.

Throughout her time on the talk show, Navarro and her co-hosts have often opened up about their lives. Recently, she shared that she’s been banned from entering her home country of Nicaragua, announcing this during a recent episode of the show.
Navarro attributed this to her previous criticism of the country’s politics. This came out after Joy Behar introduced a certain Hot Topic. This was President Donald Trump’s proposal to have tourists without visas submit their social media history for review before entering the country.
For her part, panelist Alyssa Farah Griffin shared, “Five years of my social media? You wouldn’t see that person for weeks on end, it would take so long to go through. So, it makes no sense.”
The View Co-Host Also Touched On Being Barred From Her Home Country In An Instagram Post
Navarro, meanwhile, weighed in, “Go through five seconds of my social media and I’d be banned from entering this country for life.” This caused Behar to ask, “I thought you were already?” At this point, Navarro explained, “No, I’m banned from entering Nicaragua. Which is a dictatorship, for the same reason.”
Continuing the discussion over the proposal, Navarro also shared, “To me, there’s a critical difference. They’re asking for access to five years of social media. To my shock, this is actually for countries in the visa waiver program, where people don’t need a visa to come to the United States. They apply through this other application.”

Navarro previously talked about her experience in her home country in a 2021 Instagram post. This came up when discussing her late mother, Violeta, who passed away at the age of 81.
Navarro shared, “I have not been able to visit her in Nicaragua because the dictator there has denied entry to media. And jailed many of his critics. My parents asked me not to go in fear for my safety.”
