‘Wheel Of Fortune’ Ryan Seacrest Defended After Being Torn Apart
Ryan Seacrest is a veteran television host. But he’s still somewhat new to how Wheel of Fortune works. He’s only in his second season of hosting the popular game show after Pat Sajak retired in 2024 The American Idol host was torn apart by viewers at home for a huge error on a recent show. Keep reading to find out more about his latest mistake.
Wheel Of Fortune Viewers Tear Ryan Seacrest Apart
Ryan Seacrest has hosted American Idol since 2002. He stayed with the reality show when it moved from Fox to ABC. Season 24 kicks off on Monday, January 26. He has a lot of hosting experience, but even the most seasoned veteran makes mistakes sometimes.

Unfortunately, Wheel of Fortune fans take the show very seriously and can be harsh when mistakes are made. One recent episode of the game show featured funeral director Elizabeth Teal from Tullahoma, Tennessee. She advanced to the Bonus Round with $19,859.
She chose “Phrase” as the category for the Bonus Round but was stumped in guessing the answer. After her chosen letters were added, she was left with “_ _ _TE A _ _MB_.” She figured out that the first two words were “Quite A” but was unable to guess the last word.
She didn’t win the Bonus Round prize, but Ryan Seacrest still had to tell her and the audience what it was. But he only showed the contestant the envelope and forgot to turn it to the camera.

After getting a cue from off-stage, Ryan Seacrest finally revealed the envelope to the audience. The funeral home director lost out on an additional $50,000.
Ryan Seacrest was roasted online for the huge mistake. One viewer wrote, “I don’t get how Ryan opens the envelope before the camera is ready or the contestant looking at him.”
Another annoyed Wheel of Fortune fan added, “Ryan, show the camera the open envelope. You’ve had one season to learn how this goes, man.”
Other Fans Jump To His Defense
Ryan Seacrest previously came under fire for another weird quirk he has when revealing the Bonus Round puzzle. He explained why he takes so long to open the envelope after backlash from viewers.
But not all fans of the game show were upset over Ryan Seacrest’s innocent mistake. Several fans took to the comments on social media to speak up in his defense.
- “Why is everyone finding fault with Ryan. He is a great host. Get a life supposed fans.”
- “I think everyone has to leave Ryan ALONE !!!!!!”
- “I love Ryan! Y’all so hard on him. Give the guy a break!”
One viewer even claimed that Ryan Seacrest is a better host than Pat Sajak, who hosted Wheel of Fortune for over 40 years. “Ryan is much more personable than Pat was,” the fan claimed.
Ryan Seacrest did seem to completely forget to show the envelope to the camera until he was reminded by someone off stage. Everyone makes mistakes, but some fans thought it was further proof that he’s been struggling with health issues. Share your thoughts on the situation in the comments.

Leave Ryan Seacrest alone. He has a hard enough time following the Icon Pat Sajak. I love his banter with Vanna & guests. When watching think positive not negative. Enjoy the game. 🤗
I totally agree! I think he is doing an awesome job. I also agree that he is a better host than Pat Sajak, as Ryan is more personable than Pat was which makes the game so much fun to watch!! Keep up the good work Ryan!
