Marine Loses Big On Wheel Of Fortune After ‘Stutter’

Game shows are fun, but they also have strict rules. Viewers aren’t afraid to call Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy! out when they make mistakes. During one recent episode of WOF, the contestant fumbled the Bonus Round puzzle and lost out on the extra $40,000.

Marine veteran Ron Sheppard, from Clarksville, Tennessee, dominated the game and won $20,000 before heading into the final round. Despite having a lot of letters on the board, he was unable to get the correct answer out in time.

Angry fans took to the comments to blast the show. Several viewers said Ryan Seacrest should have cut the contestant a break because they thought he knew the answer but misspoke.

  • “I think they should of gave him that he just had a stutter!”
  • “didn’t he say it at the very end but he stuttered? I know they can be picky, but it was obvious he solved it”
  • “I got it right away. So did he at the last second, but that somehow didn’t cut it.”
  • “poor guy had a stutter, cut the old man some slack!!”

He still went home with the $20,000 he already won but missed out on the additional $40,000 prize. Thousands of other Wheel of Fortune viewers called for a national boycott over a vulgar new category.

Fans Boycott Over Vulgar New Category

Game shows like Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune are viewed as family-friendly games, whereas Family Feud can get raunchy. An online group of conservative moms believes WoF crossed the line between family-friendly and NSFW with a new category.

The game show recently added a category called “What The Fun?,” a play on the popular internet expression with an expletive that also starts with an “F.” The One Million Moms group took to their website to call for a boycott over the shocking category.

“The once family-friendly Wheel of Fortune game show is no more. Unfortunately, the recently added puzzle category ‘What the Fun’ aims at a mature, modern audience with insinuated profanity, making it no longer suitable for family viewing,” the group’s website stated.

“This is unnecessary in any program, especially one marketed for the entire family. Parents will have to explain to their children that the primetime program they were once allowed to watch is no longer a clean show,” the boycott campaign added.

The One Million Moms group reportedly doesn’t actually have one million members. The group does, however, have a huge reach online. Their call to boycott Wheel of Fortune has picked up steam as news of the campaign spread online.

Tell us in the comments if you think the show should get rid of the vulgar category.
