Many People In Los Angeles Continue To Chase An Unrealistic Standard Of Beauty

When it comes to places like Los Angeles, where everyone is trying to “make it” in the entertainment industry, there is a major industry surrounding providing services to make people look their best. Whether it’s something like hiring an expensive personal trainer, teeth whitening, or something else, many people continue to chase their ideal standard of beauty. In many cases, this pursuit comes at a cost.

Even people who have already made it in the industry continue to maintain these standards in order to keep up appearances. One such case of this was with actress Cindyana Santangelo. The ER alum passed away in March of this year. She was 58 years old at the time of her passing.

California “Butt Lady” Charged With Murder

Following the death of Cindyana Santangelo, a woman named Libby Adame was recently convicted of second-degree murder in the death of the actress. According to PEOPLE, Adame “was convicted of second-degree murder and of practicing medicine without a certification by a Los Angeles jury following the death of Married with Children and ER actress, Santangelo, 58, at her Malibu home on March 24.”

Santangelo died from silicone injections that Adame gave her. Santangelo suffered an embolism that proved to be fatal following these injections. What makes this situation even more astonishing is that Adame was also previously convicted in March of 2024 following the 2019 death of Karissa Rajpaul.

Adame and her daughter were both charged in the death of Rajpaul, who was only 26 at the time of her passing. In that case, however, they were both acquitted on the murder charge. From there, Adame was sent to prison, but was released and working within a year of her being sentenced. Because of her prior history, however, the judge may not go as easy on her following the death of Santangelo.

PEOPLE went on to add, “Adame is set to be sentenced on Nov. 5, per the Los Angeles Times. Second-degree murder has a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in California, while practicing medicine without a certification could land you in jail for up to three years, the outlet stated. Adame was also found guilty of a special allegation of causing great bodily harm, meaning she could face an extra three to six years in addition to her sentence.”
