‘LIVE’ Kelly Ripa Wants Her Next Husband To An Old Billionaire
Live with Kelly and Mark kicks off Season 38 in a new studio on Tuesday, September 3. But Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are ending Season 37 with a bang. She recently returned to the show after a short summer break. Her husband also took a break earlier this summer.
The real-life married couple love to amuse viewers by sharing hypotheticals about what would happen if they broke up or one of them died. Kelly Ripa revealed that she wants her next husband to be much, much older than her. Keep reading to find out why she wants to marry someone on the brink of death.
Kelly Ripa & Mark Consuelos Clash Over Parenting Hack
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos met in 1995 when they were co-stars on the ABC soap All My Children. They secretly tied the knot in 1996. The couple has three children together: Michael, 28, Lola, 24, and Joaquin, 22.
Mark Consuelos took over as co-host of LIVE in 2023 after Ryan Seacrest left. His real-life marriage to Kelly Ripa is often used as fodder for the opening segment. In one recent episode, she vented against telling kids “just because” as a reason why they can’t do something.
“When you say ‘because I said so’ or ‘just because’ [to a child], it literally sends kids’ brains into a short circuit and it makes them feel unempowered,” she claimed. Her husband of nearly thirty years strongly disagreed.

“They just have to accept things. Just accept it. They don’t need to feel things so much,” Mark Consuelos countered, according to Hello! magazine.
LIVE Host Kelly Ripa Wants Her Next Husband To An Old Billionaire
Like any couple, the two like to explore hypothetical situations about what life would be like if they broke up or one of them passed away. Mark Consuelos previously joked about marrying someone much younger. But his wife isn’t interested in becoming a cougar if he dies.
“If you and I were not together, my next husband—I almost said, ‘My next husband, may he rest in peace’—will have to be one foot and one arm in the grave,” she said.
She added another requirement. “He has to have severe ED [erectile dysfunction] and at least $6 billion in the bank.”
Mark Consuelos had a sweet hypothetical. “I would mourn the loss. I’m assuming you passed away, ’cause why would you ever leave?” he said.

LIVE viewers love the banter between the married couple. It may be part of what keeps the ABC talk show at the top of the ratings. LIVE is the network’s longest-running daytime talk show. Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa could take home an Emmy this fall. They’re up for Outstanding Daytime Talk Series Host. They won the award in 2024.
