Kelly Ripa said a sad goodbye to a studio she called home for years. ABC’s LIVE daytime talk show filmed at the same studio in the Upper West Side in New York City for thirty-seven years. It was a staple during the time when Regis Philbin and Kathie Lee Gifford hosted.
Kelly Ripa took over for Kathie Lee in 2001. She was Regis’s co-host until his retirement in 2011. The show then became LIVE with Kelly & Michael when Michael Strahan was co-host before leaving for a full-time gig with Good Morning America.
Ryan Seacrest replaced him but left in 2023 for other opportunities. Kelly Ripa’s real-life husband, Mark Consuelos, took over and the show was renamed LIVE with Kelly and Mark.
The Upper West Side studio was sold, forcing the show to relocate. The number one daytime talk show was given a new studio space in Disney’s headquarters in Hudson Square, NYC.
Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa previously shared a look at their 1.2 million square feet studio. But not the one viewers will get to see on the new season. After leaving the Upper West Side, LIVE filmed at a temporary location at its new home.
In a new teaser for Season 38, Kelly and Mark stand atop a huge skyscraper that overlooks the city. It gives a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the all-new state-of-the-art studio.
Fan-Favorite Segment Returns, Plus New Viral Challenge
PEOPLE magazine shared exclusive details about the upcoming season of LIVE. Season 37 wraps up on Labor Day, Monday, September 1st. The outlet reports that guests for the day are Paul Wesley and Carson Kressley.
The final episode of the season promises grilling tips from producer Michael Gelman. Fans won’t have to wait long for the start of Season 38. It premieres the very next day. The Season 38 premiere date is Tuesday, September 2nd.
Fans won’t want to miss it. According to PEOPLE, “Pet Week,” a segment about adoptable dogs, returns with the new season. It’s a favorite segment among viewers. Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa adopted one of the dogs named Luna from the popular segment in March 2021.
Viewers can also expect a new segment, “Mark and Kelly Do It Week,” where the married couple tries viral challenges. Mark Ruffalo, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Rose Byrne, Derek and Julianne Hough, Lola Tung, Alix Earle and Taylor Kitsch are the guests for the premiere week.
The popular daytime talk show is up for two Emmys this year. LIVE with Kelly and Mark got nods for Daytime Emmys: Outstanding Daytime Talk Series and Outstanding Daytime Talk Series Hosts. The 2025 Daytime Emmys air on Friday, October 17 on CBS. Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos took home Outstanding Daytime Talk Series Hosts in 2024.
