TikTok Influencer Claims HGTV Did Her Home 'Dirty'

Over the years, HGTV has showcased and transformed a variety of homes, whether it’s on their network or on social media. However, one TikTok personality recently took to social media to discuss how the network portrayed her home. The share also led to some commenters asking further questions about what was being shown.

HGTV Home’s ‘Home Tours’ Gave Viewers A Look At A ‘Witchy’ Home Right Ahead Of Halloween

HGTV has aired a variety of home renovation shows over the years. However, they’ve also showcased homes on social media, including YouTube and Instagram.

Recently, however, one social media influencer took issue with how their house was portrayed during a previous showcase. This took place during HGTV’s “Home Tours,” which is hosted on the HGTV Home YouTube channel.

Back in October 2024, a few weeks before Halloween, HGTV debuted a video of a 1900s, Victorian-inspired New Orleans home. The home, which was owned by Caitlin and Luis Orellana, was described as having a “dark, moody aesthetic” and a “unique, witchy style.”

Since then, however, Caitlin, a hairstylist and content creator, has released a video on TikTok claiming that the house wasn’t quite the way it looked in the video as it does in real life. The video started out with Caitlin jumping up and down around her house, with a caption reading, “Our house was featured on HGTV!”

The Home’s Owner Claimed That Things Weren’t Quite As They Appeared In The Video

Sampling Kendrick Lamar’s “United in Grief,” the video took a turn when it reached the “I grieve different” part of the song. As the video shared, “They put a sepia filter over our entire segment and the house looked bad,” complete with a sad face emoji.

In a caption to the video, Caitlin wrote, “HGTV really did me dirty on this one.” Showing mixed emotions, she also included a crying and a laugh-crying emotion.

Taking to the comments, fans shared their own reactions to seeing the home at the start of Caitlin’s video and the HGTV tour. A few also complimented Caitlin on the house. Some comments included:
