‘DOOL’ Rumored Chad DiMera Recast Revealed
Soap viewers will get a double dose of actor Billy Flynn for at least the next six months. He announced his departure from DOOL in March for a mysterious role on the CBS soap The Young and The Restless. He makes his debut this week, but he’ll pop up on-screen on Days for a while. The Peacock soap films six months in advance. Given how important Chad DiMera is on Days, fans think it’s likely the role will be recast. But with who? Internet sleuths noticed some interesting social media activity that seemed to hint at who was taking over for Billy Flynn. Keep reading for all the details.
Why Billy Flynn Left DOOL
Billy Flynn joined Days of Our Lives in 2014 in the role of Chad DiMera, the illegitimate son of Stefano DiMera and Madeline Peterson Woods. While Chad was initially reluctant to join the DiMera family after he found out his true identity, he’s since embraced the dark family.
Much of Chad’s storyline in recent years involved the death of his wife, Abigail Deveraux (Marci Miller,) and the possibility that Abigail was actually alive. A mystery woman, played by 90210 star AnnaLynne McCord, came to Salem pretending to be Abigail but was later outed as a fraud. Her real name was Cat Greene.
Despite the deception, Chad and Cat formed a connection that the show is now exploring. That storyline is up in the air after Billy Flynn announced his departure, but Billy Flynn will air as Chad for a while. What happens then is anyone’s guess.
The actor, who was on DOOL for a decade, spoke out after news broke that he was leaving the soap. He said that the main reason he wanted to leave is to play another character. He didn’t want to keep playing the same role forever.
His Rumored Recast Revealed
As much as Days viewers hate to see Billy Flynn leave, they are happy to see him stay in daytime. He wasn’t the first actor to play Chad DiMera, but many fans would say he was the most memorable. It will be difficult for another actor to step in the role, but the show must go on!
An actor familiar to daytime set tongues wagging with his social media activity. Conner Floyd played Phillip “Chance” Chancellor on The Young & The Restless from 2019 until 2024, when he was demoted to recurring. Some fans actually speculated that Billy Flynn was taking over the role of Chance. But now it seems it might be the other way around.

Fans think that Conner Floyd is the new Chad DiMera on Days. Social media sleuths noted that the actor suddenly started following the official Days of Our Lives Instagram and some of the cast. Soap fans are usually wary of recasts, but fans of the Peacock soap loved the idea. Many noted how much the two actors look alike.

Another Actor Might Be Playing Chad
While Conner Floyd’s social media activity seems to hint he’s coming to Days, there’s another actor coming this summer in a mystery role.
It was announced earlier this year that Hank Northrop was joining the show. He’s the son of soap vets Wayne Northrop (Roman, Days of Our Lives) and Lynn Herring (Lucy, General Hospital.) Wayne Northrop passed away in November 2024, just one month after DOOL legend Drake Hogestyn.

Hank Northrop will first appear this summer, but who he will be playing has yet to be revealed. He could be the new Chad DiMera.
