Singer Katy Perry is known for being one of the best-selling music artists in history. However, the star recently got into trouble with her Las Vegas show. An inside source has even weighed in on the story. This also comes out as the singer has received backlash over her recent trip to space.

An Inside Source Talked About How A Bidding War Eventually Backfired

Perry started her career in the early 2000s, initially getting her start in gospel music. After moving the Los Angeles, she later proved to have success with secular pop music. She would later have success with pop albums like One of the Boys and Teenage Dream.

Over the years, Perry would also establish herself as a television personality. She would join American Idol during its sixteenth season as a judge in 2018, ultimately leaving in 2024, with her role on the show being taken over by Carrie Underwood.

However, the singer recently received some unhappy news in Nevada. According to reports, her three-year Resorts World residency has been proving less than successful, coming at a great cost to the luxury hotel and casino.

Speaking with NewsNation, a source noted, “There was a bidding war between Resorts World and Caesars … and Caesars technically lost out. But in the end, Caesars won. The residency was a disaster for Resorts World, a complete failure.”

Katy Perry Had Previously Talked About How She Enjoyed Performing In Las Vegas

The source added, “Katy was getting paid between $750,000 and $900,000 a show because of the bidding war. Unfortunately, “the entire run she underperformed, and Resorts World lost money.”

Despite the news, Perry does have a show planned for Vegas as part of a current tour. However, it is a one-off and not part of a residency.

For her part, Perry seemed interested in keeping her residency in Las Vegas. While speaking with Las Vegas Weekly, she shared, “I can see myself being in Vegas for periods of time for the rest of my life, especially since I live so close in California. I’ll still go on tours and be putting out records, but it’s a great touchstone to come back to.”

The star also claimed, “It’s definitely a way to have an incredible show and cater to an audience that wants maybe a more packaged experience like staying at a nice hotel, having a nice dinner, going to a nice show and maybe going out after. It’s different from going on tour and seeing someone at an arena or stadium, when you’re still playing the last record you put out. When you come to Vegas, you really know you’re gonna get the essentials, the hits, the concentrated version of the artist.”

In recent months, Perry also made headlines as part of Blue Origin’s eleventh, and first all-female, crewed flight. However, the flight was the subject of much backlash. Some felt that the flight wasted resources. Others also argued the flight should have been comprised of women already working in the space program and not celebrities.
