Country Couple Celebrate Special Anniversary
Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani have only been married for a few years. They tied the knot in 2021. This July will mark their fourth wedding anniversary. However, they were together for a long time before taking the plunge.
They started as just friends after meeting on The Voice in 2014. Romance bloomed amid their respective divorces to Miranda Lambert (Shelton) and Gavin Rossdale (Stefani.) Despite their long romance, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani still face breakup rumors.
Blake Shelton Reveals Why He Loves Recording With Gwen Stefani
Gwen Stefani is mostly known for the ’90s hit “Don’t Speak” with her former band, No Doubt, and bangers like “Spiderwebs” from her solo career. But after meeting her now-husband, she expanded into the country music genre. The couple have released several songs together, including the hit “Happy Anywhere.” Stefan’s 2024 album Bouquet included the song “Purple Irises.”
Blake Shelton released a long-awaited new album earlier this month. For Recreational Use Only includes the track “Hangin’ On” featuring his wife. He recently promoted the album with a performance at the TODAY show’s Summer Concert Series. Shelton revealed how his wife’s vocal abilities have improved over the years.
“She’s never, I don’t think ever, given herself the credit that she deserves from a vocalist standpoint,” Blake Shelton said. He shared his favorite part of recording with Stefani.
“Being in the studio with her and watching her come up with these parts and sing them and put them down and be done and go, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe I just did that.’ It’s a lot of fun,” he added about his wife coming into her own vocally.
How Wife Reminds Him Of Dolly Parton
Gwen Stefani and Dolly Parton couldn’t be more different. They sing in totally different genres. Gwen Stefani was a coach on The Voice for several seasons. Dolly Parton has no interest in judging TV singing competitions.
Despite the differences, there’s one thing they have in common. Blake Shelton was a recent guest on Apple Music’s Today’s Country Music radio show. According to the “Texas” singer, his wife’s strong faith reminds him of Dolly Parton’s.
He couldn’t stop gushing over his wife. “I’ve learned so much from her, and she’s really the person that’s helped me get in touch with my faith and get serious about it and not just something that you say at an awards show, you know?”
In addition to Dolly Parton, Blake Shelton also mentioned Little Big Town’s Kimberly Schlapman as someone who his wife reminds him of.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen her without a smile from ear to ear,” he said about Schlapman. Blake Shelton added, “[Schlapman is] just an incredible person, and Dolly obviously, but Gwen has that, too. She just has that.”
