Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Blew A Kiss To Family Members At Court

Combs was indicted back in September over charges including sex trafficking and racketeering. Over the past few months, the mogul has been behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.

Diddy’s legal team had initially sought to have him placed on house arrest. However, these plans were abandoned after a judge rejected a third bail proposal. Following this, Combs would stay in the detention center until his trial started.

As noted by The U.S. Sun, the rapper could be seen in court this Monday as opening statements started. Members of Combs’ family were in attendance. This included his mother, Janice Combs, and six of the mogul’s children.

Diddy could be seen wearing a beige sweater and khaki pants. Before sitting down, he could be seen waving and even blowing a kiss to his family.

A court clerk asked Diddy if he would like more water. The mogul could be heard saying, “I could use a little more if you don’t mind.”

According to Sky News, Combs’ representative Holly Baird claimed he was in good spirits about the trial with his family in attendance.

Meanwhile, Jaguar Wright, who accused the mogul of sexual abuse for years, also appeared at the trial. She reportedly said that this “needs to be a reckoning for the music industry.” Wright also claimed the day in court was long overdue.

Combs is currently being tried for five criminal charges that range from across the past two decades. Early on, he was originally only being tried for three criminal charges before two were added later on.

The Jury Is Expected To Hear A Number Of Testimonies During The Proceedings

As prosecutors claimed, the rapper used violence or promises of career advancement, drugs, or other methods to manipulate victims. For his part, Diddy and his legal team denied these allegations, claiming these activities were “consensual.” The mogul has also pled not guilty to these charges.

Diddy was previously given a chance at a plea deal from court prosecutors which could have reduced his sentence and allowed him to leave jail earlier. However, Combs rejected the offer at a Manhattan federal court hearing. Maurene Comey, a Manhattan US Attorney’s office prosecutor, claimed that Combs now faces a more severe sentencing if convicted.

At this time, Diddy’s trial is expected to last around two months. The jury will hear testimonies from three to possibly four of the alleged victims. One of these alleged victims is reportedly Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, Combs’ former girlfriend. The other three alleged victims will reportedly present their testimonies under pseudonyms.

Other testimonies are expected from Diddy’s former employees, who prosecutors claim could have helped arrange and cover up the mogul’s actions. However, the majority of the testimonies are expected to come from expert witnesses and investigators.
