Diddy Hires Dr To Claim Not Mentally Stable To Commit Sex Crimes
Sean “Diddy” Combs has been facing various legal issues since his arrest back in September. As his awaits his upcoming trial, the music mogul has turned to another figure to help his case. However, the move has already faced some opposition. This also comes out just as Diddy’s team had attempted to delay his upcoming trial.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ Hired A Doctor To Offer Testimony On His Behalf
Diddy was arrested back in September on charges including racketeering and sex trafficking by force. At this time, the mogul has been behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
During the ongoing months, Combs’ legal team had attempted to see him released on house arrest. However, these plans were abandoned after a judge rejected a third bail proposal. At this time, Combs’ upcoming trial is scheduled for early May.

As Combs’ trial date draws near, his team might bring on another figure that could help him. According to TMZ, part of his defense involves proving his mental capacity to commit the crimes he’s charged with, including while wasted. Reportedly, Combs even had a doctor set to testify on the issue.
The doctor, while unidentified, is reportedly a Columbia professor. Reportedly, they would testify Diddy had a “mental condition bearing on the issue of guilt.”
However, as the publication noted, the feds have found the point “totally irrelevant,” with prosecutors filing against the testimony. The detail of Diddy’s condition had been redacted throughout legal documents. However, as it was also noted, there might still be some clues concerning talk about Diddy’s state.
A Judge Also Recently Rejected An Attempt To Delay Diddy’s Trial By Two Months
Reportedly, the docs claim that prosecutors have cited a legal precedent demanding the defense give proper notice prior to sharing “evidence of the effects of drugs and alcohol on a defendant’s memory or cognitive function.” In addition, prosecutors have described the doctor’s possible testimony as evidence of the “defendant’s inability to control [his] behavior.”
Ultimately, while Diddy himself has been accused of drugging his victims, there is no debate over whether he himself was under the influence during these alleged crimes. That said, prosecutors believe, even if the doctor does back up the claim, it should be irrelevant. As the doc point out, the doctor hasn’t personally examined Diddy. Their alleged testimony could be based off of other people.

At this time, prosecutors also want to block the testimony of another figure. This would be a forensic video expert and their assessment of a video allegedly depicting the hotel beating of Diddy’s then-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, which a judge has approved as evidence.
As for the doctor, the judge has yet to rule on the matter. However, as Diddy’s trial is scheduled for May 5, it is likely a decision will be announced soon.
As noted by the CBC, earlier this month, Diddy’s legal team had also attempted to delay the upcoming trial by two months. However, a judge has since rejected the appeal.
