Plans In Place To Keep Kelly Ripa & Michael Strahan Apart
Michael Strahan is best known these days for his work on Good Morning America, but he once worked alongside Kelly Ripa on Live with Kelly and Michael. Rumors have come out that a reunion could happen between the two in the near future. However, an inside source and a network spokesperson are sharing different sides of the story.
Kelly Ripa & Michael Strahan Were Co-Hosts Of Live From 2012 to 2016
Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan served as the namesake co-hosts of Live with Kelly and Michael from 2012 to 2016. Strahan eventually would leave the series, however, to focus on his co-hosting duties on Good Morning America.
Following this, Ripa would team up with Ryan Seacrest from 2017 to 2023. In the show’s most recent incarnation, Ripa shares hosting duties with her real-life husband Mark Consuelos.
Rumors allege that an awkward reunion could happen between the two do to a recent move. As previously reported, Live with Kelly and Mark has moved to a new headquarters. Good Morning America is expected to follow suit.
Fans speculate that Strahan and Ripa will probably see each other in passing, even if they aren’t working with each other. That said, an inside source shared the staff is already being careful about this.
Speaking with The New York Post, the source teased, “They will be feet away from each other. He will be able to smell her perfume. The staff is on tenterhooks. These two do not speak.”
A Networks Spokesperson Has Also Released An Emailed Statement
At the time Strahan left Live, Ripa wasn’t given much of a heads-up. In fact, she was on vacation from the show at the time Strahan’s departure was announced. Thanks to this, fans have been worried about tension between the two.
Reportedly, the new studios even share an elevator and a hallway. The shows also film close in time to each other. Good Morning America runs from 7 to 9 AM, with Live running the following hour.
The source continued, “Plans are in place to get Michael and Kelly in and out without crossing paths. The good news is they both tend to leave pretty quickly after taping. Still, if their schedules overlap, ABC will need a Plan B.”
That said, an ABC spokesperson has denied any claims of bad blood between Ripa and Strahan. As they shared in an emailed statement, “There is absolutely no truth to this. Both Kelly and Michael are consummate professionals and are excited to continue to co-host their top-rated shows in our new state of the art studios.”
The inside source also discussed a few more issues with the move, noting, “There are not a lot of desks. People just get drawers, and they are assigned lockers. The new office is very basic. There isn’t enough space or offices. There are no executive suites, just regular-sized offices.”
However, a network source also disputed this claim. As they noted, “There are plenty of desks and space to accommodate everyone. The building is gorgeous.”
