‘Live’ Shocking Thing That ‘Traumatized’ Kelly Ripa

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are about to move to their new studio home in downtown Manhattan. As they prepare to move, they have been talking about the past. However, there are some things in her past that Kelly would rather forget. Despite this, she has some moments she wants to share with Live viewers, including one that traumatized her.
Here is what Kelly said about her experience and why it was so traumatic in her memory.
Kelly Ripa Discusses Traumatic Moment From Past
Kelly Ripa talked about the past as she prepares to move to her new studio home at Hudson Square. When looking back at her time at 7 Lincoln Square, she was asked about her various hairstyles over her time on television. This includes many that she would just as soon forget.
Kelly even joked that she regretted all the hairstyles from her past on Live. “Every single haircut,” Kelly admitted. “All of my haircuts traumatized me” (via PEOPLE). While this was a funny moment with Kelly cringing at her past style, Mark Consuelos tried to comfort his wife. He said they were “wonderful.”
Kelly Ripa has been on morning talk shows since joining Regis Philbin on Live in 2001. Before that, she and Mark starred on All My Children.
“It’s interesting, when you’re on a show, you don’t watch it, so you don’t know. You almost have amnesia,” Kelly said. “You do the show and you move on to the next day … so I have almost no recollection.”
What Hair Style Did Kelly Ripa Really Hate?
While Kelly Ripa said that all her past hairstyles traumatized her, she had one that really sticks out in her mind. Kelly said there was one that Mark wanted to see where it was a “Michelle Pfeiffer-inspired bob.” Things didn’t turn out well.
“It ended up looking like Carol Brady, and I just didn’t understand how it happened,” Mark said. “So now when you ask me, I say, ‘Babe, do what you want to do. Just do what you want to do.’”
Kelly said that isn’t how it really is. “No, that’s not what you say,” she argued. “What he says is, ‘Do what you want to do, but just know that you’re going to be miserable as soon as you cut your hair off.’ That’s what you say. So that discourages me.”
Kelly also shared the worst story of her hairstyles – and it came before she ever joined the ranks of morning talk show hosts. Kelly said that she refuses to ever cut her own hair after a mishap in the 1990s. “I cut my bangs before the Daytime Emmys about 22 years ago and I’ve never gotten over it,” Kelly admitted.
